chan_mp.c -- asterisk 1.6

Hi David (Rowe),
            I was playing with asterisk1.6 and got stuck with chan_mp.c failing to load (error: does not provide description hence unable to load) I believe it is some basic asterisk1.4 to 1.6 porting method however, still clueless if there is a standard defined method to make it work.

Can you provide some pointers to the same.

Hello Akshay,

Perhaps have a read through the two articles pointed to at
http://www.venturevoip.com/news.php?rssid=2024
These will go over the important parts of an asterisk 1.6 module. You
can then make sure that chan_mp.c meets all the criteria. As you say,
there is likely to be something small and trivial that has changed
between 1.4 and 1.6.

Hi Akshay,

I am not familiar with the changes required for 1.6 asterisk channel
drivers. You could try posting to the asterisk-dev lists. To be honest
I would be surprised if any changes are required. It would make sense
to add new driver features but not break any old modules.

There is a field that provides a "description" called tdesc, however
this _is_ already implemented in chan_mp.

You could try grepping on the error string to find where in the channel
driver loader code it broke.

I could "hack" this to work for now. few structures have changed and so have few header files.

will test this and update.
