Hi All,

Is there a way to let each node send its last IP octet as the caller when calling softphones?

For instance, If I pick up a meshpotato phone and call my android at 300, it shows caller id as "asterisk"

Is that something that can be set in future versions when the IP address is set via the web interface?

Thanks

Unfortunately caller-id was never implemented for the Mesh Potato.  In retrospect it is hard to see why we didn't. Basically I think we were so focused on getting general VoIP working well it didn't really come up initially.  Something we plan to correct in the next generation.

Unless I am mistaken, we can't do this without re-writing the channel driver for the MP.  We will have it in the MP2.0.

Hi,

I'll look into this..I think this may be possible.

The current MP asterisk configuration is just reporting a default caller-id of "asterisk" but assuming this string is configurable (and what isn't in asterisk??), we should be able to add code to the IVR IP address commands (2662 and 2663) and the WebUI such that the last octet of the IP address (the extension) would replace "asterisk" as the caller id.

What isn't supported currently, is the use of analog phones with caller-id display. In the U.S., this requires the use of 1200 baud FSK in either MDMF or SDMF format between the first and second rings of the phone. The current MP's ATA/FXS interface doesn't support that.

Cheers,

Keith
