From the Big Burn's BMArts list - a note and reminder that Letters of Intent for Art projects at Burning Man are due by TOMORROW (Friday, Dec 19th) at noon PST (which is 2 for us Central Timers).

I would LOVE to see more art from The Windy City make it out to the desert.    This does NOT commit you to a project - but it is a required first step.   If you make the cut, you may get some funding to help you along with your project.

The LOI is a fairly short form - but it WILL take some thinking, a little background (for rough budget amounts) and a sketch.

Lets make some art!!

Here's the letter and links to the form and more info:

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season! As a reminder letters of interest (LOIs) for Black Rock City Honoraria are due by noon this Friday, December 19th. This is a hard deadline, so please make sure to apply if you want to participate in this grant program.

To help with this new process below is a couple of FAQs:

What is Black Rock City Honoraria?
If you would like to receive a grant for a project destined for the 2015 Buning Man event, you must submit a LOI. We will review all LOIs and invite those we feel meet our criteria for a potential grant. Those meeting this criteria will receive information on how to fill out a full grant application.

What if I want to do something for the Midway?
If you are excited about the 2015 theme and the Midway surrounding the Man, and are hoping to get funding, here's some important info. Anyone wanting funding for a project that would be placed outside the tents surrounding the Man, on the open playa, will need to fill out an LOI. To further expand, anyone wanting to do something larger, like a carnival-styled attraction/ride, should submit a LOI by noon this Friday. For those artists/Regionals looking to create an interactive, participatory experience that could be housed within a booth situated under the tents from last year's souk, we'll announce how to get involved in the very near future.

Confusing -- yes it can be. Think of it this way. Do you want to create some sort of 3D art experience on the open playa? Then please submit an LOI by noon PST this Friday. Want to craft a wonderfully expressive, engaging experience that follows some of the tenets similar to this year's souk,  and would sit beautifully within a booth housed within our tents? Wait, we will let you know more info. When in doubt reach out; we'll be happy to clarify.

What if I want to submit more than one LOI?
Great! We want you to submit as many ideas you would like that you believe fit our funding criteria. The one challenge is that per Slideroom (the technology we use for our LOI process) you'll need to create a new profile for each LOI. Have one concept but different tiers for potential funding? If it's one concept you can keep it to one LOI and just let us know there may be different sizes/executions you'd like to propose.

When will I find out if my LOI has been identified for participating in the art grant application?
We are targeting informing artists next week if they are invited to submit an art grant application. It's a super fast turnaround, as we want to let folks know as quickly as possible if they are getting funding.

If I am invited to fill out an art grant application, how long do I have to fill it out?
We will be giving about four weeks for invited folks to fill out an art grant application. More info on exact dates coming shortly.

Do my images and budgets need to be finalized/fully fleshed out for the LOI?
No. We want to have a clear idea of what you are proposing, and how much you think it would take for it to come to life. But this is an early conceptual stage, and recognize drawings/schematics/plans most likely won't be super tight.

Thank you everyone! It's going to be amazing. We can't wait to read your fabulous ideas.
