Vodafone Wlan Hotspot Flat

Inthe last few months I have used Vodafone Hotspot but for the last two weeks I have been totally cut off, I can no longer connect, I want to cancel my contract and ask for a refund for the last few weeks that I have not used the service, thanks.

in which federal state do you live? Did you try different Hotspots? What exactly is the problem with them, do you get an error message? Do you have a contract with a Hotspot flat or is the Hotspot part of your fixed line contract?

I live in Baden Wrttemberg, yes I have tried several Hotspots, I don't know exactly what the problem is but what I can say is that I simply can't connect anymore, all my devices detect the Wifi signal but when I try to connect, the connection level drops drastically and they disconnect, this with all the devices I have tried and with all the hotspots.

I don't have a real contract, I have what is called "WLAN-Hotspot-Flat", it caused me quite a few problems this contract, 20 euros a month for a bad connection, with constant problems and now, almost 3 weeks without internet and you do not grant a return, nice way to treat customers, then one passes to the competitor.

The better way - instead of relying on other people running their router as Hotspot service and hoping that they won't turn it off - would be to get a landline on your own. Hotspot services are mostly based on home routers from other customers - they may or may not work. There is no way for Vodafone to force those customers to let their routers run 24/7 and/or to force them to provide homespot/hotspot service coverage in case they don't want to do so. And Hotspot services are quite wacky if you are further away from the router providing the hotspot - so it may appear as strong signal at first but can -due to the distance and usage of the primary WiFi for the customer that also provides the hotspot- drop very hard and/or be very slow depending on the WiFi usage from that customer as his own WiFi is prioritized.

Hotspot service is more for short term usage like if you are relocating very frequently and/or want to use it at a holiday location -- but it's definitely not designed for long-term usage at your home. The only way to get a reliable internet connection for your own appartment is apparently to apply for a landline connection - no matter if via DSL (phone outlet) or cable (antenna outlet).

Please look at your customer center - there should be a button to cancel the service - or you use the contact form to send a written cancellation (in German - as German is the sole contractual language).

Which router did you use? On a single radio router a small outage during (re-)connection (not during scanning!) is normal due to wireless reloading activities. That's the reasion for the "always off" quotes ...

Good news, the telekom auto-login script has been finished today! Maybe someone is willing to test that script with travelmate 2.x, just copy it to /etc/travelmate, make it executable and select the script with a telekom hotspot. The script expects 2 parameters: the username and the password:

In case anyone needs it, I made a script to auto-login into Vodafone Hotspot access points. In my case it disconnects every 30 minutes, so it is still annoying as hell, but its the only thing I have to work with. I was also a bit lazy and used jq to handle the API responses, so that has to be installed.

I'm setting up a new router for travel. How does Travelmate(1.5.5) handle captive portals with mac address in the url?

I thought I could clone my notebook MAC so the correct MAC gets in the URL to authenticate the router.

There's lots of places to set it manually (19.07.7) , but it never actually changes any wifi MAC (MT7621) including the Travelmate one.

Windows drivers don't let me spoof the notebook mac either unless it has 2,6,A,E so I can't do it that either.

Maybe I'm chasing my tail, is this already something Travelmate will do ?

Travelmate 2.x supports mac randomization (use a different mac address with every re-connect). To set a hardcoded mac address just add the option 'macaddr' in the relevant STA section of your wireless config, e.g.:

I tried mac in config wifi-iface already , it caused failed connection. I just did it again now, as follows, using a previously working connection:
