Could it be used to crowdsource and democratically decide what features to add?

Vilfredo for Vilfredo?

Hi Victor,
we tried this.

It doesn't work very well. We found that there is a difference between What questions and How questions. With What questions requiring a system that permit multiple concurrent answers all to possibly win with little connection one with the other. While How questions tend to require a single answer that integrate all the alternative ideas. As such How questions work well for small technical groups. WHile What questions are more general questions that tend to decide the aims. In a sense you start with a what question, and then you apply a how question to each point you have decided in the what question. Well Vilfredo works well for the How questions, not so for the what questions. The whole dominance imposes that some proposals hide some others. This is ok in a how environment where you are looking for a single answer. Not so in a what environment.

But you can apply another system to decide what to do, and then apply Vilfredo to decide how to do it. Or you can apply Vilfredo to solve a specific problem. And we have successfully done so in a number of cases.
You can find them in the Vilfredo room:

The one that I always use as an example is "the wall of text":

See, for example, how proposals slowly became bigger as generations passed and were integrating various ideas.

Cheers,
Pietro

Hmmm... I need a decision system for the collective and guild I intend to build. But I need something which covers both types of decision types.

Hi Victor,
Having that what questions amng a small group of players without new versions of the proposals being proposed half way is trivial.

And it just require people to propose and people to vote, and maybe vote in different ways depending if they are willing to help, agree but don't want to help, disagree but don't care, disagree and will actively hinder, will rather leave the group if that decision passes.

If the group is big and not online all at once you can use bubblingaround.com.

In my experience it is a big error to look for a platform that does all, as it ends up doing everything badly.

Better to decide what to do in one place, and how to do it among the people interested in another.
