to Vancouver Island Java User Group VIJUG

Dear VIJUG memebers,

With the holidays over it should be a great time to organize the next meetup for the group. I propose we do a a discussion table style this time. In this style we will not have a single topic and a presenter, but instead we will have 3 topics being discussed at round tables and visitors are free to join the conversation they are most interested in. Please let me know if you think this format would not work for VIJUG.

Assuming this is the format, I would like to call out for topics. Any suggestions are welcome and if we have too many, we may do a poll to choose from the list.

Based on the hot conversations during the last meetup, I could propose two topic to start with:

1. Java 8 to 11 upgrade. Best practices, war stories, known pitfalls.

2. Build systems and their current state. Maven, Gradle, SBT, ant, etc.

I do not have a time and place in mind yet. I hope we could organize it late in January and in a location that have enough space to have multiple concurrent conversations.
