Small Giant Games is a mobile game development company based in Helsinki, Finland. It was founded in 2013 by former employees of mobile game maker Sulake. After producing two casual games, Small Giant found success with a match-three role-playing game entitled Empires and Puzzles. After the success of Empires and Puzzles, Small Giant was acquired by Zynga in December 2018.
Small Giant Games was founded in 2013 in Helsinki, Finland by a group of individuals laid off by mobile game developer Sulake.[1] Otto Nieminen, formerly Sulake's product development officer, was the company's founding chief executive officer, with Timo Soininen, former CEO of Sulake, assuming the CEO role at Small Giant in 2014.[1][2] Ex-Sulake chief technology officer Markus Halttunen joined Small Giant in the same position. Developers Ilkka Juopperi and Tommi Vallisto rounded out the Small Giant staff.[1]
By October 2013, Small Giant had raised $750,000 in seed money.[3] Later that year, the company completed a fundraising campaign that generated USD 3.1 million to allow them to launch their first mobile game, OddWings Escape.[4] The game launched on May 14, 2015.[5] In his review for Pocket Gamer, Harry Slater described the game: "Oddwings Escape is a game about genetically modified mutant ducks flying through lovely looking backdrops. You have to collect hearts and coins, avoid bombs, and get as far as you can."[6] OddWings Escape was downloaded over 1 million times in the week following its launch.[5] The game's early success was credited, in part, to its having been translated into 15 different languages at launch, giving it broader international appeal.[5]
Following OddWings Escape and Rope Racers, Soininen described a change in Small Giant's focus away from casual games: "we decided to kill those products pretty quickly and start looking for the big one. How could we really get that top-50 grossing game? What does it take?"[8] EQT Ventures provided Small Giant with EUR 5.4 million in venture capital in 2017 for marketing and game development.[9] In March 2017, Small Giant launched, Empires and Puzzles, a match-three puzzle game that also incorporates elements of role-playing games.[10] By the end of the year, Small Giant reported that Empires and Puzzles had generated USD 33 million in revenue.[10] The game won the Game of the Year award at the 2017 Finnish Game Awards in 2017.[11]
EQT Ventures invested an additional USD 41 million in Small Giant Games in January 2018 to assist with scaling the game to a larger audience.[10] Only four months into the year, Empires and Puzzles exceeded its revenue generation for 2017.[10] By the end of 2018, it had been downloaded 26 million times from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.[10] Empires and Puzzles won the award for "Best Breakthrough Hit" in the 2018 Google Play Awards; Small Giant was a nominee for Best Live Ops and Best Developer at the Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards in 2019.[12]
In December 2018, Zynga announced that it had reached an agreement to purchase Small Giant Games.[13] Zynga purchased 80% of the company initially for USD 330 million in cash and USD 230 million in Zynga unregistered common stock.[13] The terms for purchasing the remaining portion of the company will be set based on its performance over the three years following the initial acquisition.[13]
Empires and Puzzles continued to perform well for Small Giant and Zynga. In October 2019, the game reached USD 500 million in lifetime revenue and reached 41 million downloads.[14] In May 2020, Zynga paid the first of three installments for the remaining 20 percent of the company, transferring $122 million to Small Giant after Zynga posted $404 million in revenue for the first quarter of 2020, a 52% increase.[15]

Look near the border with Manhattan Noir to find a yellow and green tiled puzzle. You need to push the green block onto the space here. Then, push the red block up to the slot above. Don't fret if it doesn't seem to be working, this puzzle requires very precise placement of the block. Next, push the green block all the way around and down to the slot on the bottom left. Lastly, push the yellow block down to the slot on the bottom right to reveal the gold brick.
Go to the puzzle near the border with Egypt. Bust the silver object here. Then, turn the lever to open the water valve. Hop into the water sprayer to start a timed challenge. You need to put out the water on the pipe ahead. However, the Hydra agents will prevent you from doing so. Attack them quickly and spray the water as fast as possible to complete this challenge and acquire the gold brick. A good trick is to fail the challenge first. Then, hop back into the chair. If you're lucky, the enemies will not spawn, granting you an easy task(or if your unlucky like me, your game fails and you beat it but it never gives you the gold brick :[:{ ).
Outside the restaurant, break the object above. Then, build with the parts to create a boom box. Now, head inside. Use Doctor Strange to create a portal at the back of the room. In the next area, pull the handle to reveal some more parts. Build with these to create a rolling platform. Roll to the left to access the gold brick in the other room.
Look at the back of a building on the far side of this area to find a breakable wall way up high. Use Thor (or any "Big Fig") to toss his hammer (or chunk of ground) up here and reveal the gold brick inside.
Look in the area closest to K'un-Lun to find a gold brick inside a barred room. Swing around to the right side of this building to find a grate to slip through. Break the objects to access this. Now, once inside, solve the tile puzzle on the left to unlock the chest containing the gold brick.
Go to the roof of the building closest to K'un-Lun. You'll need to solve this puzzle. To start, break the large objects on either side of the roof to find some parts to put together. Next, go to the lower level and turn the green lever here to expose an electrical panel. Charge this to continue. Next, head to the next corner. Break the object here to reveal some parts to build another green lever. Same here. Push the green lever to reveal the electrical panel. Charge it to finish this structure. Unfortunately, it's not up to Hydra's standards. Use a character with Telekinesis to put the parts into place. Don't forget about the head hanging over the other side of the roof! Finally, defeat all the Hydra agents to acquire the gold brick.
Look for an odd looking structure near the gold brick monument. In the core of this is an electrical switch. Break the objects to clear the way to charge it up. Do so to reveal the gold brick inside the chest.
In the middle of the city, look for the arrow-shaped building. Go to the point to find a shrink maze. Navigate through here to lower the green shields below. Now, break the objects to reveal some parts to build a gravity mine booster. Use Star-Lord to toss a gravity mine in here and collect the gold brick.
Head to the center of town to begin another puzzle. Here, you'll find a parade going on. Look for the float with two golden railings. Melt these and eventually, some parts will appear to build a gravity mine booster. Use Star-Lord to toss a gravity mine in here. This will derail the second float. This will send the final float flying. Now, you can collect the gold brick.
Look for a large building with "Hydra" on the side. Destroy the sign a the top of the doorway to reveal a shield switch. Toss a shield into here to lower the bars ahead. Then, break the glass with a sonar character. Melt the statue inside to reveal a gold brick.
