Piney Ridge–AT–Hull School Trail Loop

Date: Tuesday, August 11, 2026

Time: 8:30 Departure from the trailhead

Distance: Approximately 18 miles

Ascent/Descent: Approximately 4,200 feet

Location: LIttle Devil's Stairs Trailhead parking at the end of VA614 (we are NOT hiking LIttle Devils Stairs, just sharing the parking lot)  Coordinates:  38° 43' 49.92" N,  78° 15' 29.86" W

Route:

• Beginning at the Little Devil's Stairs Loop Trailhead take Keyser Run Road to Piney Branch Trail
• Turn Right on Piney Branch Trail and continue in an upstream direction to Piney Ridge Trail
• Take the Piney Ridge Trail to the Appalachian Trail
• Turn LEFT on the Appalachian Trail (south)
• Follow the AT south to the Neighbor Mountain Trail
• Turn Left and continue downhill to Skyline Drive and the Hull School Trail Parking lot
• Take the Hull School Trail down the mountain to the Piney Branch Trail
• Turn Left (upstream) and continue to the Hull School/Keyser Run Trail 
• Turn Left on the Hull School/Keyser Run Trail and back to the parking lot.

Carpool

If you are interested in carpooling to this hike please let the group know to help ensure others will be joining you. Hikers who wish to carpool should expect to leave the parking lot no later than 7AM at the Centerville Park and Ride off I66, exit 52, Centerville.  Go West on Rt 29 taking the 2nd right into the parking lot area, then immediately turn left to the corner of the lot where our group gathers.  (See: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector/riders/stone-road )
