Esther send me an Email asking about carpooling at Carderock, so I'm sending this out because taking the Beltway to Carderock is not the way to go, at any rate for those of us who live in Virginia. The American Chestnut Land Trust is in Calvert County, to the southeast. For who are traveling along the Beltway, take Exit 11 to go onto Route 4 East towards Upper Marlboro. Continue for about 31 miles towards Prince Frederick and turn left on Dares Beach Road, Rte. 402. Continue past the roundabout about ¼ mile after the turn, then go 2.2 miles to Double Oak Road. After nearly a mile turn left onto Twin Oak Drive. The parking area is about ½ mile at the end of the road.
