to Vigorous Hikers

We will start from the Gettysburg Battlefield Visitors Center (opens at 8, restrooms, water, food and air conditioning, note that bags must be inspected to go inside, no pocketknives. No entrance fee). The weather looks not too hot (a little cooler in PA)

We will do some approximation of much of the auto tour going on trails and in the shade much of the time later on the day.
The plan is that for the first part we will do the area of Auto Tour Stops 16-15 and then 4-12, including the highlights Big Round Top and Little Round Top, approximately 12-13 miles (a couple of places where you can easily go back early if you like)
We will then go by the Visitors Center for anyone who wants to be done. For those who want to do a few more miles, we can do Auto Tour Stops 13-14 and the highlight Soldiers Cemetery and the approximate site of the Gettysburg Address, or you can do some driving around instead

We will mostly be hiking through the fields, farms and monument-lined roads, with a few stops for exploring monuments and observation towers. There are some restrooms and water along the way

Meet outside the Visitors Center entrance, 1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, PA. There are EV chargers at the RV/bus parking

About an hour and a half drive from Carderock. We will try to start around 8:30

Carpool from Carderock lot. Start from the first parking lot at Carderock Recreation Area (38.9723,-77.1996).  Exit the beltway for Clara Barton Parkway West (towards Potomac), in less than a mile exit and follow signs into Carderock Rec Area (for the first parking area turn right and then an immediate left).

Please let me know if you will meet at carpool (Carderock) or at the trailhead.
