Subject: Southeast Asian Deportation Stories

Hello,

My name is Quynh Tran, Policy Intern at the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC). SEARAC is a national organization advancing the interests of Cambodian, Laotian, and Vietnamese Americans through leadership development, capacity building, and community empowerment. SEARAC also works closely on national policies that particularly impact Southeast Asian American communities.

One of the policy issue areas that we have been working on for quite some time is deportation and how it effects Southeast Asian American families and communities. We’ve started to collect stories to learn more about how the issue is affecting community members and to use them in our advocacy work around this issue. We have a survey link on our website to capture such stories (which can be accessed here: SE Asian Deportation Stories). We strongly encourage you to collect and submit stories you or your clients may want to share with us.

The stories collected from this survey will help SEARAC better document how immigration laws and deportation are affecting Southeast Asian American communities, families and individuals. It will also help us in our efforts to educate communities and policymakers about the impact that deportation has on Southeast Asian Americans and to advocate for policy changes around this issue.

If you could pass on this link to individuals or organizations that might be willing to share their narratives, we would greatly appreciate it. Please feel free to contact me at 202-667-4690 or at qu...@searac.org with any questions.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Quynh Tran
