Reimbursement for 50th Anniversary Airfares.

Fyi, for those involved:

Since the start of October—after their missed September deadline—I’ve been told weekly that our reimbursements for travel to Vietnam’s 50th anniversary “Foreign Press Week” are “only a few days away.” Still nothing.

It’s become tiresome, and I know it’s placed financial strain on several of us. Back in September, I contacted Vietnam’s Embassy in Canberra. They cited ministerial reorganisation as the cause, but echoed the same assurances as Mr Tung Pham in Hanoi.

I’ve now followed up again and stated, quite firmly, that if this matter remains unresolved, I will not hesitate to raise it directly with H.E. Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, through diplomatic channels.

Latest from HCM City after a promise of 15th of November and an advisory that not just my immediate group are involved here. 

"At this stage, the most appropriate response would be to await the outcome. Let us look forward to positive news together."

Latest after they failed on 15 November with an "at this stage, the most appropriate response would be to await the outcome.  Let us look forward to positive news together."  This from the FA guy in HMC City I've been dealing with and who thought he'd paid me off in Dong into a relative's bank account in Saigon. But I am not giving up on the rest of you!   

I am also trying to verify how widespread this non-reimbursement stretches into the rest of our 30-person group, including those around Nick Ut at that end of the table.  (Dave Burnett awaits.) 

And, yes, I am ready to 'storify' this.
