Thanks for the update, John, and keep them coming. Sounds very unpleasant, what Mike's going through, yuck. Family certainly can help, though; most of us know that.

An update on Mike Morrow, provided by his friend Jean Joh.

Dear Friends,
Mike's next round of immunotherapy & chemotherapy will begin tomorrow, in addition to radiation therapy 5 days a week for six weeks. His wife Yanzi & daughter Mao Mao will hopefully be joining him soon to help him as he goes through this process. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers, and thanks once again for your generous donations! Best regards, Jean

Hello, everyone. Many of you know Mike Morrow from the old days. He's had one of the more unusual post-Vietnam careers, in Mongolia, where for years he's been helping nomadic peoples produce traditional cheeses for local and export markets. But I'm sad to share the news that that work is on hold. Mike is in Seoul undergoing advanced treatment for throat cancer. And doing it without insurance. I hope you'll consider making a donation through this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-mike-fight-cancer-with-strength-and-dignity

In early June, Mike traveled to Seoul, South Korea, to begin treatment at Yonsei Severance Hospital. After extensive testing, doctors found that the cancer has not spread beyond his throat and neck nodes, and as such he is a candidate for aggressive and very promising immunotherapy coupled with standard therapies giving him a much better chance of either cure or prolonged survival with better ...

After that personal after the Fall of Saigon post the other day ending up
on Guam and bringing my family together, disappointment I wasn't staying in
Asia, I thought of this sidebar from earlier stops in Guam on that Pan Am
Saigon-Honolulu run -- and on to the West Coast, of course -- which some of
you might recall. Those shark fins were damned spooky. A peg for a look
back on the old thumpers - and that was a hell of a lot of missions, eh?
