Hi,

Is there any way I can try this map?

I have forwarded your request. I know that the map is half brewed so
it may take some time to be ready. Are you currently in Vietnam or
when will you be there ?

Dear GPS,

Thank you for the taking action to my request. I will not visit
Vietnam until Tet 2008 time frame which is the first week of
February. I am going to travel from Hanoi to Hue by airplane and
then Hue to HCMC by motor bike :D.

Hopefully, I can use my GPS to nagvigate me on the right road and also
find local road in the town along with this trip.

Today, I started to generate 20m scale topo map for Vietnam. It may
take a month to complete new topo map with no void data hole. I will
post on this project group when I complete it.

best regards,

Garmin

I visited this page today and saw your map posted.
http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com/maplist.php?cnt=234&rgn=

I have a chance to review the map being done by my friends in Vietnam
(by the way, I'm not in Vietnam) and found out that the zoom level
allocation were not done properly. Due to the size of the map, it's
not possible to post to the file section of this group so I'll send it
to you by email.

Enjoy Tet in Vietnam, I really miss it. It's now in my distance
memory. :(

Hi GPS,

Thanks for the greeting. You can ether e-mail me or you can upload it
to mapcenter.
I have a registered version of compiler and very fast computer
environment.
If you need a computing power, I'm more than happy to help you out.

best regards,

-Ryo

Hi Ryo,

Thank you for offering computing power for compiling maps. Please advise if your system is able to compile routable maps, let's assume that the mp file contain road with direction on level 0.

Thank you

Hi GPS,

I'm sorry but, my compiler is not a version which can generate routable map.  It costs $800 and I can not afford it.   The version I have is a shareware version which can provide medium size POI indexing (for the size of a city).

As matter of fact, to create a routable map is not easy.  For example, we have to distinguish crossing road  and overpass or underpass crossing road, one way streets etc.    But, if you still want to create a map, you may try the online compilar at mapcenter.    http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com/faq.php

I posted HCMC map on this web site but, I never tried routable map because of the reason above.
The online compilar on the mapcenter offeres you "some level" of routing capability.   As matter of fact, I have a routable version of Vietnam map for my GPS but, the quality is not so good.  It is usable for inter-city routing but, it can not be used for street level mapping.

best regards,

Ryo
