This software saved my business today. I had read every article, tech blog, and Apple support answer I could find to fix my "incompatible" iPhone backup and had tried everything. Multiple times. I was pulling my hair out and thinking I had just lost everything. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Best $30 I ever spent.

I thought for sure this was a scam and that my corrupt back up could not be recovered. I had backed up my phone before going to Apple not knowing it was corrupt and wouldn't work at the time and so I heard Apple will replace your entire phone for free is the flashlight doesn't work. So I went to get a new phone after backing up to my computer iTunes. When I got home with my new phone it wouldn't back up because I was getting the error message that the backup was corrupt and not compatible. After researching high and low for a fix to my problem so i wouldn't lose years worth of pictures and contacts, I found Decipher and read the reviews hoping they were not fake. I went out on a limb and purchased the license for $30 bucks because I didn't have anything else to lose at this point and it actually worked. I'm so thankful and happy this program exists!!!

I neverrrrrrr write reviews for things, but Decipher Backup Repair literally saved me from losing everything I had backed up from the last year and a half. My phone crashed and completely wiped all of my information and data and I only had one recent backup I could use on a new phone to restore from and it was terribly corrupt. THANKFULLY I found Decipher Backup Repair because nothing else (including apple's technicians) worked on fixing the backup file. Decipher Backup Repair worked on the first try and was a breeze to use. Purchasing Decipher Backup Repair was easily one of my best purchases of the year. Thanks a lot guys.

Decipher Backup Repair is miraculous! I was so skeptical that it could restore my corrupt iPhone backup, especially after spending 5 hours on the phone with Apple tech support and 2 hours at the Apple Store. It was well worth the $30 to get back my cherished texts, pictures, and notes.

Decipher Backup Repair is software developed to fix problems and glitches in the iTunes and Finder backups of iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches. Decipher Backup Repair will fix the problems resulting in the iTunes error message: "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone being restored." as well as "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected." Decipher Backup Repair runs completely on your computer, so your data remains private.

My story - Iphone needed a battery replacement - so I backup using itunes - next I tried to restore backup - the backup was corrupted - after many hours - I was thinking let's try Decipher Backup Repair Trial before going to Apple. Since a lot people suggested to try it on redit...But after clicking the next repair button, my 127GB backup was to reduced to 134MB. Do you think Apple could still restore my 127GB backup...sigh....

If you have a different error while trying to restore your backup in iTunes, you can run the free trial of Decipher Backup Repair to see if the problem is a broken backup. We also encourage you to contact us so we can help you track down the problem and improve our software.

Decipher Backup Repair will automatically scan for your iTunes or Finder backups, show you all of your backups available to evaluate and fix. Decipher Backup Repair is compatible with the latest versions of iOS, including iOS 17.1.1 and 17.2 beta.

Within the free trial, we'll show you the issues in your broken backup, and how those issues would be resolved. Register the program with a license code, and then you can complete the automatic repair process, and restore the repaired backup to your iOS device in iTunes.

When i came to restore my files from my previous day's backup it didn't show in itunes. I thought about this and realised that i needed to reinstal ios9 then try to restore. I tried this and to my surprise, the days earlier backup showed up. I started the restore function but i received an error to say itunes could not restore because the backup was corrupt or not compatible. I've download iBackupbot and can't get anything at all transferred over. I'm currently wokrking with a backup that i did just under a year so as you can imagine, i've lost a lot of information (even though my backup is still there on ITunes). I'm wondering if this is to do with the different beta numbers?

HI Max, Thanks for your reply. You're right, i saw your advice on another thread. I can't find the com.apple.coreduetd.batterysaver.state.plist file on iBackupBot. I've search the encrypted backup for 'battery' and it finds nothing. It sounds so promising too!

There's a 3rd party "Corrupt Backup Recovery" tool that has a free trial version and a paid version. There are reports on Apple Communities that the paid version works in situations like yours and, to be fair, it proabably does. However the free trial version claims to analyse the corrupt backup for you and tell you whats wrong before prompting you to fork out for the full version. I'm not sure that the software has been updated to deal with iOS 9 backups, but you could run the free analysis and post the results in case they're helpful:

This is a long shot - but can you go into your iTunes >Pref > Dev and in the list of backups identify which was your ios 9 backup? if so- quick! (lol) archive it (using a control tap, or a right click on a mouse) - this at least should preserve the backup if you haven't written over it with a new backup.

However, and after reading a lot, I noticed one detail that maybe I gave for granted or did not pay enough attention to -- basically it was one of the first steps before going into the full process of restore, which was make sure you had a proper functioning USB cable (seems obvious, right?). I did the backup flawlessly using an original USB cable BUT when running the restore, I always tried using an Amazon cable. It was basically one of my last shots, but tried using again an original Apple USB cable, which did run the restore completly and smoothly... after a 50 min I had my iPhone back with all my precious backed up data. Hope this helps for frustrated peeps out there! (did for me!)

The common problem of iPhone data recovery that is user have no any idea to restore lost data back , or they don't know how to operation the recovery tool to do ,in this way, once the deleted data is covered with some new data on iPhone , they have no chance to recover the lost data on phone , no matter what recovery tools do you use, unless you have backup for the lost data before deleting, then you can access data from iTunes backup

I was locked out of my Iphone X 256gb, thanks to my companies VPN. Now, I do backup my phone periodically and so I tried to restore but kept getting a msg that the back up was corrupt. Though I had only 1 back up on my PC, I do have a NAS server and back up my PC daily. I had backups of my Iphone that went back over 6 months. I tried for two days who days to restore, going back to Dec but kept getting the same msg. After my 6th attempt, I started to research and found this forum and read about Decipher Backup Restore.

There are files in your backup that cannot be restored because either the filename is too long or the name has other issues. Typically, these files are caused by bugs in an app, and removing them is harmless. Decipher Backup Repair will repair these errors in the backup by removing these files.

This backup has at least one file that is not allowed in this backup. These will definitely cause an error when restoring this backup. Decipher Backup Repair will fix the error caused by this file, but the file will no longer be part of the new backup. Usually these files are remnants from a much older version of iOS, and will not cause any data loss in the repaired backup.

Touch Copy- TouchCopy allows you to transfer all your iPhone content back to your PC or a Mac. You can backup your Music, Photos, Videos Contacts and other media from your iPhone, iPad or iPod, as well as save and print your iPhone Messages.

  • iTunes could not restore the iPhone because an error occurred.
  • iTunes could not restore the iPhone because an error occurred while reading from or writing to the iPhone.
  • iTunes could not restore the iPhone because an unknown error occurred.
  • iTunes could not restore the iPhone because the backup does not exist.

I had the same problem, no idea where it came from. I had a jailbroken iPhone 3G and switched to a non-jailbroken iPhone 4, i.e. I transferred the backup to the new phone, which worked. Some time later, however, I got that error message. I tried the solution above, I even deleted all backups, even the ones not related to that phone, but the error persisted.

And done. In my case, I deleted two folders with long, cryptic, alphanumeric names, one empty, the other over 1GB in size. When I opened iTunes again, I could create a brand new backup without any errors.

During a sync or backup, deleting the backup is the way to go, and iTunes will create a new one from scratch. However, the original poster has the additional issue that the backup isn't appearing in iTunes.
