Hey guys,

1. My German is very bad, I can understand you but I cannot properly communicate. I'd prefer this to be in English but whatever suits you.
2. I study Business Administration in Prague. I worked as software engineer for 4 years now, had my own company that focused on web and mobile applications. I work for Chicago based start up incubator/design agency as project leader and software engineer. I'm 20 years old.
3. I would probably want to visit Wien at some point so I would be able to meet with you guys.

Hi all,

I think we should stick with English for the moment.

I have been a software engineer for over 13 years by now. I don't have
profound knowledge of AI or Machine Learning, but I'm always
interested in those topics. I think that knowledge in Machine Learning
will become more important in the near future. I'm enrolled in the AI
and the Machine Learning classes.

I think that we should meet for example once a week. I don't know how
much people we will be, but I think that a regular meeting would help
us to keep the motivation and to help each other with difficult
topics. We can additionally exchange information with other groups.

I found a Machine Learning course by Andrew Ng at
http://academicearth.org/courses/machine-learning

Meeting once a week would be great. When are you guys usually available? Also, what would you like to use to communicate?

I'd say we'd pick one of these form of communication (instant
messaging is just way better for some things than forums/google
groups)

* Skype (Possibility to speak with each other if we want to)
* IRC channel
* google+ hangout (didn't try this yet so I don't know if this would
work)

we should keep the google group for organizational purposes though

skype : dominik-schubert (only text-messaging atm)

concerning the meetings... I'll get back to you in a few days about
that.

Hi,

I would prefer either Skype or IRC (I think, I even read about a "semi-official" channel
for the ML course). By the way: Don't forget to enroll in the courses.

Paul

Why not use gtalk for instant messaging? We get logging + everybody uses it.

Hello everyone,

It's now just a few more days until lectures start, I am slowly
getting excited.
My name is Andres, I work in UX Design and study Psychology but am now
slowly getting into programming (again).
Weekly meetings would be cool. It will be hard to make them efficient,
as study groups have a tendency to distract people from the study
subject but I think we can do this.
What would be the best way to schedule our meeting? Are you guys open
to using the "Find a time" function in Google Calendar? You give
permissions to other people to view your calendar, but you can decide
what will be shown and what will be hidden.

Best,
Andres

PS: I am fine, with Google Chat/gtalk, Skype, IRC or Google+ Hangout.
I think Google+ Hangout would be really interesting to try. Are all of
you on G+ already?

I'm a heavy user of Google Calendar but the 'find a time' function
wouldn't work for me since all my appointments are splitted in a few
different calendars ( 2 universities, 1 privat, 1 shared, etc. etc. )

Hi everbody,
I'm Nik. A few months ago I co-founded a company with two colleges
(blossom.io) and besides that I'm finishing my bachelor degree at
Vienna UT. My knowledge in this area is very little, but I'm very
interested into it.
Would be nice to try out Google+ Hangout. If it doesn't work out we
always can fall back to Skype/IRC.

Hi,

Never used Google+ Hangout or the calendar, but let's try it out. My google+
account: https://plus.google.com/107199046694528196487
I will only be sparsely available until October the 20th and will join up with you
then.

Hey,

Why not use gTalk for the beginning? Not if Hangout is going to work out well.

Btw, I created a repo for all the code for implementations we're going to write. Let me know you github username if you want to be added as collaborator. Andreas and me already went through first.

Btw, all implementations are going to be written in Python.

mind what IM we are going to use (have not used gtalk yet either). My github acc:

don't know much of AI or Machine Learning but I'm interested into it.
For communications, Google+ or Google Talk are fine as well as Skype.

  Hi guys,

I'm probably the prototypical grumpy oldtimer here :-) I actually have a Dipl.-Ing. in Computer Science with specialisation (Wahlfach) AI, but that was some time last century and I'm curious to re-learn things I've long since forgotten, so I'm taking the AI and ML classes. Not quite sure whether I've enough time and determination to do the advanced tracks though.

  Cheers,

mjl (yes, that's the github username as well)

Hey guys,

Martin, you've been added to git repo.

Andreas and me will have second meeting (via gTalk) this Wednesday at 9 PM. Anyone who can make it, please do because we'll go through first week and discuss everything.
