Over 850 million people worldwide are affected by kidney diseases. Recognizing the importance and centrality of dialysis therapy to training and patient care, ASN has updated the Dialysis Core Curriculum to close the knowledge and/or performance-in-practice gaps of nephrology professionals regarding quality, patient-centered healthcare. This curriculum consists of PowerPoint slides that cover the breadth of dialysis, including basic principles to treatment options to complications to administration considerations, and more.

Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) Responsible for providing direct patient care, monitoring the patient and hemodialysis machine, and performing safety checks on the equipment and systems. Internship: minimum 250 hours (If qualified).

Hemodialysis cleans the blood of waste products and excess fluids by passing the blood through an artificial kidney, or dialyzer, for patients with end-stage renal disease. Prepare for a career as a Sterile Processing Technician (SPT). This immersive course will train you to work as an SPT and prepare you for the Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification from the HSPA.

Sterile Processing Technicians (SPT), also known as Central Service Technicians, play a critical role in preventing infection by sterilizing, cleaning, processing, assembling, storing, and distributing medical supplies. This online sterile processing technician certification course will train you to work as an SPT and prepares you for the Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification offered by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). This course also includes a voucher which is prepaid access to sit for the certification exam upon eligibility.

With the support of an instructor, you will learn all the necessary steps required to perform the duties and tasks of an SPT. In this sterile processing technician training course, you will learn the details and expectations within the concepts of the role and gain proficiency in understanding the step-by-step requirements of the sterilization process.

Emphasizes use of anticoagulants, the order of draw and, procedures for obtaining and processing specimens. Safety considerations for all health care professionals and patients discussed. The phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team, whose main function is to obtain patient's blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection for testing purposes. Phlebotomists are employed throughout the healthcare system including in hospitals, neighborhood health centers, medical group practices, HMO's, public health facilities, veteran hospitals, insurance carriers, and in other healthcare settings. The demand for phlebotomy technicians has increased substantially with the overall complexity of healthcare services and the risks of infectious disease. Current healthcare industry experts predict a 15% increase in phlebotomy jobs by 2024.

This program prepares learners to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Learners will become familiar with all aspects of blood collection and will review the skills needed to perform venipunctures safely. Topics in this course include medical terminology, related anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, and procedures for collection of other types of specimens within the scope of practice of the phlebotomist.

Learners who complete this program are eligible to participate in an optional volunteer externship opportunity with a local company/agency/organization whose work aligns with this area of study in order to gain valuable hands-on experience. As learners progress through their eLearning program, an Externship Coordinator will reach out to coordinate placement.

The need for Pharmacy Technicians continues to grow with demand expected to increase substantially through 2024. Technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other healthcare settings. This high demand for pharmacy technicians is the result of a multitude of factors including the constant availability of new drugs, the national shortage of registered pharmacists, the establishment of certified pharmacy technicians, and the aging population. Approximately 400,000 technicians will be employed by the year 2024 to meet our nation's growing healthcare demands.

This comprehensive course will prepare learners to enter the pharmacy field and take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's PTCB exam. Content includes pharmacy medical terminology, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining generic and brand names drugs and much, much more. This program will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and to pursue certification including the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's PTCB exam.

Patient Care Technicians are multi-disciplinary technical workers trained to provide basic nursing assistant care as well as other skilled functions. Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Clinics, Labs and doctors' Offices all employ Patient Care Technicians.

This is the foundational course to learn the language of medicine, using word parts and the basics of anatomy and physiology to understand the most common diseases, treatments, procedures, and acceptable abbreviations.

Learn the fundamentals of Medical Office Billing with the hands-on management of a medical practice using the Medisoft Advanced Patient Accounting software. Simulate an on-the-job setting with an in-depth look into the business practices of a successful medical practice. Topics include: setting up and managing a medical practice, using the universal coding system to prepare medical claims to third-party payers, government and insurance regulations, maintaining good patient medical and financial records. To fully prepare the student for successful and professional marketing objectives, this course continues with additional focus on the challenges of the job interview and establishing a top-notch resume and effective cover letter, along with follow-up procedures for job interviews and salary negotiation.

This course is designed to prepare individuals with the theoretical, technical, and clinical skills needed to maintain equipment and provide patient care to those being treated for chronic renal diseases. Class format includes lecture, lab, and clinical activities. Successful completion of this course will prepare the individual for employment as a dialysis technician in hospitals, renal dialysis facilities, and clinics. After one year of work experience, individuals may be eligible to sit for national certification as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician. 132-hour course offered in seated format. Class/clinical days and times vary.
