There is actually a .deb file for the tool. I really have no idea whether it is official sony or just unofficial linux port. All I know is that there is a .deb file for the tool which installs the flash tool on ubuntu. That actually left me wondering if there is any way out for Suse.
hello.
I have a question about Emma. in the website, sailfish talks about downloading Emma if we want to go back to androidOS , but when downloading Emma, Sony doesnt allowed you to use it if you are not a professional??? so how we should do it then?
For completeness on the issue of flashing, I guess we should note that there are flash tools other than Emma which can be used, e.g. Xperifirm/Flashtool (could provide links but would prefer the more experienced to do this if demanded.)
Be aware that for Emma, it is the DOWN Vol. button , not the UP one, like when you flash SF.
The light should be green.
When you plug the phone like this, does Windows signal something? It should beep or display a message that the phone is found.
Im not sure but gonna try it anyway. If it doesnt work with seller I will try to sell that phone anyway so flashing to android is necessary? Or maybe someone want to buy it? Is there an official WTS WTB sailfish forum section?
When I connect my XA2 to the computer via Volume Down nothing sounds and the device is not displayed via USB either. Only in the device manager it says SOMC Flash Device. Then I install Emma and Emma recognizes my XA2 directly. It offers me the option for a firmware update and software update content erase for Android versions 8 and 9 respectively.
The problem is that in Emma there's only ons service for me: Xperia T JB 4.1 (Build Alpha). When I select this service it seems to be empty. In the box in the lower right corner is say 0 Kb and File information not available.
I don't have any Xperia T with unlocked bootloader so i can test this but Emma might not always show file information about all updates. If you have installed stock firmware using Flashtool there's no need to flash stock using Emma.
@Christian2013 You mention the samen problem as I did. So i am not crazy. The answer from Sony support states that you can't use PC companion tot update with an unlocked bootloader. But there's no mention that you can't use Emma with an unlocked booloader so I asume that's possible. If there was a usable service in Emma for the T but there's not.
The sollution for your problem seems to be flashing stock firmware with flashtool instead of Emma. The place to be is XDA to find all you need. Be aware you problably loose your data. The only way to put your apps and data back is root it first, backup with titanium, flash new firmware (i am on .142 stock unbranded) and place backup back. If you never did all those things before please read carefully, follow all steps and don't be mad when you loose in-data apps or more.
Using link in this thread and installing firmware with Newflasher should be viable, with folder needing to be decompressed upon Mac OSX with Archive Utility:

Flashing went fine. When I unplugged the cable the blue LED stayed on and pressing the power button seemed to have no effect. In the end I connected it again to USB and rebooted using fastboot reboot. That worked well.
Guys does anybody know any tips on how to keep volume up button pressed plus plug in the USB cable end into Xperia 10III at the same time in order to get a blue light? because I am always getting red light and never blue. (USB debugging and developer options are on. wifi is on) thanks.
Thank you for reply! yes, I had it turn blue (first red and then soon blue) twice out of about 50+ attempts on connection. On a second time I managed to unlock bootloader successfully, but did not have a chance to Emma down the android version from 12 to 11, and now I can no longer get it blue to complete the process of android downgrading with Emma. It never turns blue again (another series of about 20+ attempts). It might be that I got a defective unit in this particular functionality. ?
one more time thanks for help, guys! Here is the main tip which was my show stopper with getting blue dot (or green dot for that matter).
Hold the Volume UP button and simulatinustly insert the USB cable other end into the phone. Do not release the button!
Keep holding it, until the light turns on Blue! I was releasing it as soon as cable got connected solid. go figure. +))
