CHE 125 React This! people,

At the Kinocrastinate Productions meeting tonight, I told about this project, and probably about half of the people there were interested in helping.
Agata, could you forward this to the other members of KP, so those interested could join the google group?

What we need to do now is write a script. Really, all we need is ideas for visuals, since the audio is fixed.

We can choose a few people to act as musicians, and mime the whole song, in different locations (like most music videos), or we can have different people act the parts for different parts of the song. I think it will make it more cohesive it we have the same people throughout, but it sounds like there's acoustic guitar, two different electrics (can be divided into a few , and drum set. Of course, there's also singing throughout.

I think we'll probably first get footage of our chosen musicians miming the song through in each of a series of locations, and then we'll pick up shots of all the related visuals that y'all provide.

Interested parties should listen to the song all the way through. I'm trying to get Dr. Lane's permission to put it on the group, but emails to him are suddenly bouncing, so I'll put it up now, and take it down immediately if he says now. You can always listen to it on his myspace page (it's "React This!", remember, not "Reynolds Rap" or "Steppin' off the Stages")

So, what I need from you is:
  1. Any other ideas for approach to filming.
  2. Ideas for visuals to go with the words.
  3. Ideas for fliming locations.

IS there a way for all, or most, of us to meet up to discuss ideas as a
group? I think that would be the most successful way. That way we see
how each person is seeing this video go (i.e. funny, serious).
I have a busy schedule and therefore i cannot head up this group
meeting. i can attempt to come to it though.

Cameron

As Cameron Bolt pointed out, it would be good to have a meeting to take down ideas for the video's content. Tell me which of these times works for each of you. I'll tally the votes, and establish two times so we can get as many people's ideas as possible.

Monday, 11/17, 3:30-4:30
Tuesday, 11/16, 5-6
Wednesday, 11/19, 3-4
Thursday, 11/20, 5-6
Friday, 11/21, 5-6

Tuesday, 5:00-6:00 and Wednesday, 3:00-4:00 are the most popular. I'm working on getting a room for us to meet in, but it will probably be one of the upstairs rooms at the Ferg. I'll send out more information tomorrow.

I think we should just meet and film the video at the same time. We
can discuss as we go. We've only got a week til Thanksgiving Break,
and I think most of us would like to see this done ASAP. We should
just meet, bring a camera, decide what we're going to do, and film it
on the spot. Otherwise, we'll never get this thing started, let alone
finished.

I think we can get some content filmed during the meetings, but we'll need to get other, more planned stuff next week. We can easily be done filming before the end of the week.

Unlike a narrative project, it is not critical that we get every planned shot--as long as we get a few run-throughs of the song, preferably in a few different places, I can always make something. However, the overall quality will be better if we are able to plan types of shots and get props and costumes. It also wouldn't hurt to get permission to shoot in intersting places, like the deep interior of HMC/MIB, or Bevill.

Thanksgiving break actually starts Wednesday.

So we'll need to get planned stuff Thursday of this week and Monday and Tuesday of next week.
