At blip.tv, we accept videos that are emailed from cell phones. But every company seems to use a slightly different format, which can make reading the emails somewhat challenging. So to make sure that we can read them, I am requesting sample videos shot from your cell phones. I am especially looking for Verizon customers, and people with regular Sprint cell phones.

If you could be so kind as to shoot something and e-mail it to charles at blip dot tv, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you! __._,_.___

Okay, I just tried to send you a video clip. I use Sprint and a Treo
phone. I don't know if that's what you needed, but I thought I'd help.
BTW, it only allows me to upload videos that are 256K or less, which
is a mighty short clip.

Your video upload feature would be useless to me with the limitations
that Sprint has put on my uploads.

Why is it that every Sprint user we find is using a Treo or some other PDA?  Where are all the Sprint users who have regular phones?  Do they exist anymore?  And what's up with those upload limits?  Ridiculous!

I have Sprint with a Samsung A920. I'll send Charles a little clip in
a few. Have to get out of my workspace building first. Dont want to be
fired for making a vid in here.

I use an older Samsung MM (multimedia) Sprint phone, but it's video clips are 15 sec or less.  Later models, have a 30 sec video limit.  The Treo 650 has an unlimited length (limited only by the size of your SD card)

I did a 4meg video off my cellphone, the largest I've ever did:

[ that's Dr. Raman Sundrum, a famous theoretical physicist, of "Randall-Sundrum" model fame, see here:

It was so big, I couldn't send it from my cellphone (Treo has some really annoying idiosyncracies, limited memory is one of them..I had to put it in my laptop & use the web-based loader.

I did a few 2M videos, one was at that same conference above:

    Here's another one:

There are other PDAphones which can do video, here's one using the PPC6700 (Sprint & Verizon have it, mine is Sprint):

It's a full-featured PDAphone (WiFi, BT, Windows WM5 OS), but the phone kinda sucks.  Poor audio, screen-brightness is hard to read in sunlight (this is where the Treo 650 shines, REALLY BRIGHT screen).

So, basically the Treo 650 has really good functionality (bright screen, good form-factor..easy to press keys).  But, the O/S is Palm, which sucks!  Mine crashed on Sunday (last day of conference), & I dang nearly lost ALL of my valuable business-contact phone #'s.  The Treo 700w (Verizon, Windows WM5) got bad reviews, so there's now a Treo 700p (p stands for Palm O/S).  I just spoke with a Apple store dealership owner, & he is swtiching from Treo 650 to Treo 700p.

I used my Treo 650 (Cingular, GSM based) in Egypt for the solar-eclipse back on March 29, & it worked flawlessly.  My 4x4 guide Omar was sending me text-messages & I made a lot of key phone-calls during my trip:

I spoke with a guy with a Cingular Treo 650, & he finds it valuable for his worldwide travels (marketing sales).

To answer your question, there is NO one single great solution, there are many.  Each has its tradeoffs.  Did you notice the color balance for the Treo 650 video for indoors..sucks?  Greenish people, ugh.

Charles...let me know if you got the video or not. My cell allows for
30 second clips so it probably wont be the longest clip you may get.

    Thanks

Some phones have a strict limit for sending video as a MMS or Multimedia
Message. However, if you save the video, then send it as an Email
Attachment then you can send a much longer video.

This is the case on Cingular, at least, using my Sony-Ericsson W600.

I have a treo and use sprint... mostly, I just save the video to an SD
card - the 128mb card gives me an hour of video time.

Then I just download when I'm on a PC.

I'm not sure how much my videos will help you, but I sent 'em anyway. I actually ended up sending you two videos... I sent the first one as an email attachment, then realized that I set up my phone to use a POP account for sending email. That probably wouldn't be much help so I sent another video as an MMS message.
