Are you using a proxy or VPN ? Can you share the whole error details ?

Hi Mig,

Thanks for the resonse.

I'm using no Proxy nor VPN.

The sequence of steps is as follows:

There is no escape from here except closing the Firefox tab.

By the way I have deinstalled the following applications, rebooted the computer and reinstalled the applications to no avail:

Firefox 60.0.2 64bit
Video DownloadHelper 7.3.1
VdhCoAppSetup-1.2.2

It looks like a problem indeed and to be honest, i don't have any idea what is causing this.

A couple of users mentioned this issue before but this is very seldom.

What if you use the QuickDownload action (which does not open a SaveAs dialog) ? Do you still get this error ?

What if you launch the LocalConvert operation (open the VDH main panel, pass the mouse over the "..." sign at the bottom left, then click on the Convert Local Files icon). This should open a file dialog. Do you also get the error ?

From your screenshots, the only unusual thing i see is that your user name contains a space character. Maybe there is a glitch there. Is it possible for you to try from another user account that does not have this characteristic ?

No EPIPE error. I have checked this for formats WEBM, MP4, 3GPP and MKV and the download using the CoApp worked as expected.

If I do that I get the EPIPE error.

I created a new account "Test", tried to download a Youtube video with downloadhelper and got the EPIPE error.

The EPIPE error does NOT show-up on a 32bit system running Windows 7, 8.1 or 10.
The EPIPE error does NOT show-up on a 64bit system running Windows 8.1 or 10.
The EPIPE error DOES show-up on a 64bit system running Windows 7.

Many thanks for the accurate feedback.

Could you do the following:

- to run the inspector, right click in a page and pick "Weh Inspector" in the context menu

This lists the messages exchanged between various VDH components, in particular the add-on and the coapp. We try to identify the exact call to the coapp that produces the EPIPE error. It is possible that you have to change the Weh Inspector settings to use "Asynchronous mode" (displays request and response separately) in order to identify the guilty call.

When I try to download a video the downloadhelper cycles in a loop starting with "write EPIPE" (see attachment).

I'm unable to locate the Weh Inspector settings to use "Asynchronous mode" (displays request and response separately)
in order to identify the guilty call. I only have options "Rescan addons", "Clear messages", "Preferences" and "Storage".

Questionable: The variable "filePath" contains the file path with the file name appended.

Thanks.

To open the Weh Inspector settings just do the following (note this applies to all add-ons that support settings):

- click the 3 stripes icon at the top right of Firefox to open the menu
- pick "Addons"
- in the Addons tab, select "Extensions" on the left to see the list of all installed extensions
- on the "Weh Inspector" row, click the Preferences button
- the add-on settings are embedded into the new page

Do not forget to click the "Save" button after you change parameter "Messages display mode" to "Asynchronous".

I have run Weh Inspector in Asynchronous mode.

DownloadHelper shows the "write EPIPE" error and cycles in a "write EPIPE" loop.

I attach the Output of Weh Inspector.

From the output I cannot identify what causes the EPIPE error.

Thanks, but would you mind sharing an image screenshot ? The HTML file you attached is not convenient.

Yes. I uploaded a HTML-file but that was converted to another format.

The output is large and would not fit into one image. I try to upload a PDF-file instead.

Thanks, this is useful. So now we know, the error happens when requesting the "getParents" method from the coapp.

I investigate on this and come back here.
