Recently when I try downloading videos from twitter there's no audio---the video has no sound. The same thing happened today when I tried downloading a video from http://hamptons-magazine.com. Any assistance and solution to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Could you upload  one of those videos to expirebox.com or another equivalent service, so we can verify whether it contains audio ?

Hello - I have the same problem now since I got Version 6. Before that, in previous version, the videos wrre downloadad in original quality and with audio. Now the download via Helper is just not worthwhile. I am using another program.

Answering according to my previous comment would have been more useful :)

Or, more likely, the video holds a particular audio codec supported by the in-page player and not the off-line player. We ask to upload a sample so we can check that.

I am having the same problem. As you requested, I have uploaded a sample file on ExpireBox: http://expirebox.com/download/f0fff3ccb474544b32c148b4432ee82b.html

This is a download of a YouTube video that definitely has sound...but it has no sound in my prefered media player (AVS Media Player). It does have sound on Windows Media Player. Previously, all of your downloads would play effortlessly on AVS Media Player. A problem of Codecs or what?

Note: there is also no sound when I copy to my iPad.

Thanks!

The video you uploaded (thanks for this) plays well for me, with audio, on vlc, mplayer and parole (i'm on linux). Libav reports the following streams:

Stream #0.0(und): Video: h264 (Constrained Baseline), yuv420p, 640x360 [PAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 640 kb/s, 29.97 fps, 30k tbn, 59.94 tbc (default)
Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: aac, 44100 Hz, stereo, fltp, 96 kb/s (default)

As you can see, the audio stream is encoded in aac which is a very common codec.

HOWEVER, the (eng) mention indicates that this stream is defined as being in english. Maybe your player is not able to deal with this setup, or you have to do something in the settings to allow it.

Did you download this video as an ADP variant ? If so we may be able to force the stream language to und (undetermined) during the aggregation. If it is a direct mp4 download, we cannot do anything.

What is the URL of this video on YouTube ?

Thanks for this useful feedback.

Hi,

I also am having issues with audio.
Been using DLHelper for years.  Have paid for conversion too (but not converting anything now!)

Only now have problems with Audio

Details --
Firefox 48.02
DLH: 6.0.0
OS: Windows 7 Pro, SP 1 (updated carefully b/c Microsoft updates often have issues!)
Video Player: VLC Media Player 2.2.4

Example:
Website: CNBC.com
Choose any video.  Use DLH to save any version that appears in DLH.

Same issue in all downloads:  Audio will work for a few seconds and then no audio.  Video is fine.
I have tried waiting until the video is fully loaded on CNBC.  I have tried converting the result.  Same issue.

Please help!  Without audio, DLH not useful!!

Just as an FYI, when I tried downloading the videos with savedeo.com I was able to get audio. With that said, the issue is definitely with DownloadHelper and not the videos. Thanks!

Since you have a converter license, you can easily create a conversion rule using the default "Re-encoded MP4 (h264/aac)" so the files are rebuilt. Does it work that way ?

Setting up a conversion to "Re-encoded MP4 (h264/aac)" worked for me on the CNBC clips!  Thx!

However, this behavior is new to DLH, only occurring in the recent versions.

It would be wonderful if this sound issue did not occur in unconverted downloads.

Thanks!

I am having troubles reproducing the problem. Videos from Twitter seem to play OK (with audio working) even on Windows Media Player.
Could you share a page URL containing a video you have problems with ? Thanks.

Status on this issue:

The URL https://www.welt.de/finanzen/article158304673/Notenbanken-eroeffnen-das-Zeitalter-der-Planwirtschaft.html?r=86552757298158&lid=575298&pm_ln=727908 has been reported to demonstrate the problem and i verified that the video downloaded from this page does not play audio on Windows Media Player.

However it does work well on a dozen other video players i tried. The regular tools (avconv, ffmpeg) do not show any warning about the file being corrupted in any way.

I'd like to say "WMP just sucks !" but it's not 100% satisfying :)

Another user reported in https://groups.google.com/d/msg/video-downloadhelper-5/xo74khlyoYg/UeC8uGhREwAJ that ffmpeg was showing an interesting warning message when applied to Twitter videos, but i couldn't reproduce that message, and videos from Twitter work well for me.

So, at this point, i'm clueless. Any observation you may do could help.

We believe we fixed this issue in development version 6.2.0a3 https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/video-downloadhelper-5/uy6oGlk1n4Y

Can you give it a try and let us know how it goes for you ?
