i noticed that the premium page said "Premium for Chrome" and i was wondering if the lifetime premium is restricted to the particular browser.

if so is there a way to get the lifetime for all browsers at once?

thanks in advance.

Firefox licensing and Chrome Premium mechanisms are completely different. There is no universal license that would work on both versions of Video DownloadHelper.

Having already paid for the license to use the companion app with firefox, I find this quite irritating that we are expected to pay for another license for chrome.  Clearly its the same companion app.  And clearly the license fee was to unlock features in the companion app.   this feels like I'm being charged twice for the same thing.  I'm disappointed.  I'll stick to firefox before paying another fee.

No, the companion application is not only free but open-source. The license/premium does not unlock anything in the coapp.

There is a simple way to get everything for free: on Linux, both Firefox and Chrome VDH versions have no limitation. Plus the OS is free as well as plenty of high quality other applications.

Not true... At least on Windows the fee unlockes the ability to download more than 2 dash streams per hour (or what ever the limitation was) and gets rid of QR codes on transcoded and merged media...

The exact benefits of going Premium are:

- no limitation of 1 HLS download per 2 hours
- DASH media with separated audio and video do not have the watermark (and as a consequence, aggregate much faster)
- converted videos (through Download&Convert, Local convert or conversion rules) do not hold the watermark
- conversion to audio-only formats (like MP3) is available
