DASH xml streams, Czech radio and developement direction

Hello,

over a year ago, there has been some discussion of Czech radio's use of DASH XML manifests which VDH.  (here https://groups.google.com/g/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/c/yj0X6iZxBVo/m/kWl0Ee1EEQAJ ) At the time, Michael said that support for it would probably eventually be developed.

However, about a month later, Wild Willy stated that Michael is not keen on implementing it ("Another example to encourage Michel to change his mind about not supporting this type of streaming." - https://groups.google.com/g/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/c/fU9u22YCniw/m/MNWWBi57BQAJ ).

Recently, Czech radio started to use DASH way more than it used to (as discussed in Czech for example here: https://how2do.cz/navody/jak-stahnout-audio-porad-ceskeho-rozhlasu-v-mp3/ ) so a lot of the content is  impossible to download with VDH (alternative ways with developer tools still work, but are cumbersome). I wanted to ask if there are any planned changes on this? I think there are probably at least hundreds of users who would appreciate this, even though I fully understand development resources are limited.

Just for anybody stumbling on this (and possibly as code inspiration), yt-dlp can now download these streams from Cesky rozhlas, see https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues/6584

The content mentioned in those old threads is apparently no longer available due to
expired copyrights. Please post a couple of new examples of videos that are available
today that are giving VDH 8.0.0.0/8.0.0.0a2 beta problems. You should upgrade to this
latest VDH. Singular. One release. The official release & the beta release are
identical. You should also read my comments from the last few days in the thread
entitled "How to download from YouTube." There are ideas in those comments that apply to
all web sites, not just YouTube.

Hello, a new content would be for example here: https://dvojka.rozhlas.cz/hledam-byt-sucha-smutna-janzurova-ve-hre-o-tom-ze-zivot-neni-vzdy-takovy-jak-8728783 Even reseting the preferences as advised does not make this download with YTH. However, as I said, things on Cesky rozhlas can now from March be very easilly be downloaded with yt-dlp (the reason of my previous post in case somebody stumbled upon the thread through Googling), no need to go through F12 and network sniffing. Yes, you are correct. VDH 8.0.0.0a2 beta does not recognize anything on this page. Once
you click the play button on the audio object on that page, the Network Monitor suddenly
receives a file named manifest.mpd of type dash. This is a DASH master manifest that
ffprobe interprets without problem & you could download the content with ffmpeg, although
I didn't try it. I have encountered a handful of other content that appeared to be DASH
on sites other than YouTube & VDH did download it. But it's not working on your Czech
site. If you have another tool that works with this content, by all means, use it.
