Why is there no way to turn ADP off ? Even moving the "Adaptive" entries to the bottom of the variant list as recommended by mig in another thread results in my download list littered with multiple ADP entries that I end up accidentally clicking. For some reason, the "Adaptive" entries are not disable-able, like all the other entries.

What I would really like instead of that whole fiddly menu is to just be presented with the options the site in question actually offers for download. That includes 1080p, which YouTube offers but VDH 5 can't download anymore for some reason, and which has already resulted in me switching to JDownloader for YouTube, which can download 1080p fine and without the need for an external converter.

I used to be a big fan of VDH, but I cannot be clear enough: the ADP converter is a horrible piece of crap that takes hours and hours only to result in an unusable video with gigantic watermarks covering a considerable piece of the video. As a bonus, about half the time I tried it, the videos would end up with no sound. Literally any aspect of this whole ADP experience makes me want to completely uninstall VDH. I don't know if the converter people give you anything for people who pay for it, but I can't imagine it'd be worth the incredibly bad end user experience this has led to. I was happier not having the option at all.

Please don't let this negative tone overshadow that other than ADP and the lack of the 1080p option for YouTube, I really love VDH and gave it top reviews.

There are 2 ways ADP variants can be detected:

1/ by analyzing the Youtube page and detecting the available variants. This should follow the variant order you defined: if you put ADP variants at the bottom and left the number of displayed variants to 6 (the default), since there is probably more than 6 non-ADP variants for your video, ADP should not appear.

2/ because those variants are the ones currently being played in the browser and have been detected on the network activity. Variants (ADP or not) detected that way do not follow the order you defined for the Youtube-specific method. Those variants are important because if the Youtube video is protected, this is the only way you have to download the video. There is currently no way to hide those variants (without disabling the whole network detection method).

re 2)
Surely it would be possible simply to eliminate any ADP variants when building up the list in the view?

It's in the features TODO list.

Great! Hope you get the time to implement it :-)

" the ADP converter is a horrible piece of crap that takes hours and hours"...

Yes, unfortunately. It's been killing my laptop for hours and hours with 100% cpu usage.. I realize that's the way it is because video related renderings etc. usually last a long time, but it's really bad from the user perspective still.
