Hello.

I tried to post a much more detailed version of this, but it was removed....? Not sure what happened.

I've noticed that VDH has choppy / jittery video playback when downloading in MP4 (haven't tested other formats).

After analyzing the same file downloaded via VDH and alternative methods, it turns out VDH has variable frame rate mode.
I believe this is causing the jitter / choppy playback.
the other file had a constant frame rate mode and smoother playback.

VDH had an average of 5ms of jitter when analyzed with PotPlayer.
Other methods had an average of 1ms of jitter on playback.

Any ways / methods to change from variable frame rate mode to constant / fixed frame rate mode?

I've looked through the codecs and didn't see anything immediately.

Thanks.

hi,

VDH just aggregates streams, unless you convert it, which generally fixes the problem of choppy playback.
Could also be a player issue : did you try VLC ?

Thanks, Jerome.
Yes, I've tried VLC, PotPlayer, WMP, Media Monkey, GOM.... others. All similar results, but VLC seems best for playback of the specific files output by VDH.

I think the conversion is the best process.

I've used the VDH converter with some success. Some output files are good, some are worse than the originally downloaded file - playback very choppy and strange bit rate streams when analyzing the video.
Also, the converter really pulled a lot of resources from my PCs - typical of video conversion software.
My main PC has a Ryzen 9 5900X and it pulled all cores to 100%, also a little bit of my RTX 3070, strangely.
I also have another PC with an i5 and native graphics- similar results.

I'll experiment more with conversions.
