I tried to find it within the toolbar customization options and the icon is not there.
Not sure if this is an add-on issue or my Firefox being difficult. I am working with version 115.0.1

I have seen where the installation of VDH seemed to complete successfully but it actually
didn't. The solution is to simply install it again. To find out where to install it
from, click this:

https://groups.google.com/g/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/c/BzPLK2YyL-s

Make usre you read the first 2 paragraphs there. After that, search for "various pieces"
within the text of that web page. That will give you a link to an explanation of where
to find the various pieces of VDH. You want to install the 8.0.0.0a2 beta of VDH. It is
a much improved version. At some point, it's supposed to get approved by Mozilla. At
the moment, it has not yet been approved. So you can get an advance copy by using the
beta.

When you install VDH, the final step of the install is a screen saying, "Congratulations,
you have just installed . . ." When my installation failed, everything happened as it
should except the congratulations screen. On my second attempt, I got that & everything
was good after that. So be sure you get that congratulations screen when you install.

ok soooo...  I tried re-installing - and as you confirmed, I am not getting that "congratulations screen" at the end.
But then again, I was unable to find the 8.0 version you recommended.
Firefox is limiting me to 7.6.6 😔
I have to do more digging on that link you provided.

Partial success with 7.6...
I got the "Congratulations Screen".
However I still do not have the ability of adding the icon to the toolbar...  (see screenshot)

SUCCESS!
I played around with Firefox's interface and right there in the right-click menu I found a way of adding the icon!
Way easier than I expected. Sorry for all the previous posts!  🤦🏽‍♂️

This is good news.  But you really need to click the link I gave you & follow my advice.  You are still stealth quoting (a subject covered in that other thread) & that is bad.  You also need to get on 8.0.0.0a2 beta.  The improvements compared to 7.6.6 are numerous.  You don't need to be cluttering up this forum with duplicate problem reports of bugs that have been fixed in the beta.

Bismailer,

It's not generally the fault of VDH as such. Icons in general don't seem to be added to firefox for some time now. You sometimes see it with other extensions as well.Firefox for whatever reason doesn't enable some plugins by default. You can see this when you try and sync a browser on one computer with another computer running firefox none of the icons appear in the bar.

The easiest way to fix it (or add them to your bar) is
- click on the little "extensions" icon (middle of the attachment)
- scroll down and enable the plugin by sliding the slider next to it on the right.
- Or disable and re-enable it sometimes works too.
