I think I've identified what works from vimeo and what doesn't, this is for both on Vimeo website itself and when embedded. My findings are based on :
Licenced : No license
Companion app versions : 1.6.3 & newer 2x
Now the issue with Vimeo is they have two distinct methods of streaming as well as using
two different video codecs.
Streaming methods : dash and mp42
Codecs : avc1 and av01
What works : mp42 + avc1 ✔ , example :
https://vimeo.com/251646742Downloads and aggregation progresses as expected. Works with both versions of the companion mentioned above.
What doesn't work : dash + avc1 ✖ , example :
https://player.vimeo.com/video/862134415This is the combination that trips up the Companion app and produces the fast video issue for companion version 1.6.3 ,the issue also occurs in the download phase. This can be verified by looking at the temporary video file in temp directory in Windows. The file extension has to be changed to mp4.
But for the newer 2x companion app I'm now only getting the audio on it's own and no video. I looked at the temporary file and it has no duration and bitrate information. Probably why the companion app omitted it in aggregation phase.
I hope that with this information the fast video problem can finally be resolved.
What doesn't work : mp42 + av01 ✖
On this combination the video downloads but once it gets to aggregation it does not appear to progress. There was no movement in the progress bar. I don't know if it's a bug or not but it behaved that way for companion versions 1.6.3 & 2x
