Since about six weeks or so, when trying to save a file, the download stops with this message:

A network error caused the video download to fail part-way.

I am using DownloadHelber 5.4.1, an update to 5.4.2 did not help.

This also happens when trying to view files online with DownloadHelper..

I am using Firefox 41.0.2 and have used previous versions with the same problem occuring.

[Exception... "A transfer was only partially done when it completed" nsresult: "0x804b004c (NS_ERROR_NET_PARTIAL_TRANSFER)" location: "JS frame :: resource://gre/modules/DownloadCore.jsm :: this.DownloadError :: line 1498" data: no]

The above is the error message VDH gives back.
Sorry, forgot to post this earlier

Since your problem is related to downloading and this area is being rewritten in the next 5.5 version, would you mind giving a try to the latest development version (currently 5.5.0a10) from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/versions/ ?

I don't think the problem you are having could have been introduced by recent versions of VDH. But to make sure of this, could you try installing older releases (but version >= 5.0.0) from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/versions/ ?

Now I am confused, if not to say flabbergasted!

Following your link I decided to install Version 5.3.1.1 signed because it was released May 25th and I was sure I had had no problems with VDH this spring and summer. After installing (the Firefox tab thanking me for installing is still open), I started to download a file. After a few minutes I noticed a new Firefox tab that thanked me for installing 5.4.1! (This tab is still open as well.) I did not try to install anything after 5.3.1.1. When I look at the VDH settings, it says I am running 5.4.1.

But, lo’ and behold, the file downloaded completely without a glitch. And later another file, this time a very large one, also downloaded without a problem.

So, what is/was the problem? Me?

Anyway, thank you for your help. If I should try anything else, let me know.

I'm not quite sure what the problem was. My best guess is that is had something to do with your connection to internet.
