Thank you to VDH team for FLV support!

But now unfortunately I have tripped over yet another encoding format from PBS. I have recorded this video but see no menu option to "Download and Convert," which I __think__ I saw with FLV fragments. See screenshot.

So I have these *.ts files and would like to assemble them into one, 50 minute MPEG, but am at a loss as to whether that is possible and if so, how can I do that?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I've spent much time on this and other websites trying to answer this on my own.

Thank you.

Unfortunately, i cannot check your URL (country restrictions being displayed).

However, it is normal not to get "Download", "Quick Download" and "Download & Convert" action available for MP2T streamings. Instead, you get a "Start recording", then a "Stop recording" action where you can decide whether to convert or only assemble the video pieces.

In the screenshot you provided, you just need to click "Stop recording" (or wait for the end of the video) in order to get your video file.

Thanks very much, mig, for enlightening me. Learned something new, and the Assemble & Convert worked find with that URL.

May I ask 2 follow-up questions:

1. Is it possible, using VDH, to convert a series of MP2T "chunks" after the fact? The "Convert Local Files" option does not seem to provide that.
2. Can you record MP2T streams unattended? That is, when the video ends, does VDH stop creating *.ts files?

Again, thank you for your help.

No, chunks can be assembled only at the end of the recording. Of course, once you get the assembled single file, you can apply local conversion on it.

2. Can you record MP2T streams unattended? That is, when the video ends, does VDH stop creating *.ts files?

Yes. Once you have started recording, this will stop automatically once there is no more chunks appearing in the network traffic.

How did you start recording on this page?  I'm using VDH for Chrome on my Mac, and am getting a similar string of small MP2T files from http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/videos/autism-in-love/ but I'm not sure how to "record" - should I just click to download one of the files and hope the rest follow?

I'll attach the screen shot.

Hi, the video that caused me to write the original post, is no longer available on the PBS site. I instead started watching http://www.pbs.org/video/2365646490/ just now and got the VDH menu shown in screenshot. I don't know if this applies to your situation. I'm such a rank VDH newbie and hope an expert may see this thread and give you solid advice.

VDH for Chrome does not support MP2T because of Chrome API restrictions. You should try with the Firefox version. I cannot tell if this will work as i get an error message when accessing your link: "We're sorry, but this video is not available in your region due to right restrictions."
