M1 Mac compatibility

Does anyone try it on a M1 Mac?  I'm wondering if you can still install the Companion App in the M1 Mac running Big Sur.  It's working perfectly on Mojave now but planning to get a new M1 Mac Mini soon.

I too have been unable to load the companion app to my iMac running the most current version of Big Sur. I am not using an M1 Mac, so the problem may be related to the Big Sur OS. I have tried both the pkg and dmg versions of the Mac download and get the same error each time.

Here is the message:

“net.downloadhelper.coapp-1.6.0.pkg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.

What if you open the finder, go to the Downloads directory, right click on the net.downloadhelper.coapp-1.6.0.pkg and open it from the menu ?

Just an update.  I've got my M1 Mac and have done some tests, everything is working fine on M1 silicon.  No issue at all.

If i'm not mistaken, the M1 mac uses an ARM processor for which we do not have a companion app. This means VDH can only download basic streamed videos (i.e 1 URL = 1 video file).

if you install Rosetta 2 on your M1 mac it runs fine.

I would still love to see you recompile the helper app to universal binary.  Running in emulator mode is slow and take a lot of resources.

It'll put the app in the Applications folder. However, when trying to initiate a download, the browser helper keeps saying to install the companion app.

If I click on the application, it gets the same message that Bill described.

Do you mean you have the "can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software" message.

I'm using Big Sur and I tried everything in the article but

I still get the same message. When I click on "Open Anyway" it still says it can't be opened because it can't be checked for malicious software. Any other options?
