Hi, only just recently started using VDH on Firefox 50, and I've been very impressed with it!
However, I've now run into a problem.
Suddenly for no apparent reason VDH is no longer detecting any media on my Facebook News Feed, which it always used to do.
I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, and it makes no difference.
It seems to be still working OK on other sites.
As far as I know I haven't changed anything to cause this.
Anyone any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks, Dave.

Hello, I test this one of the blow. If he asks you for a password you put your login facebook and your password. On the other hand, the duration of the download lasts the same duration as that of the video. It may be because of FB that has released a new protection.

Bye

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one!
If Facebook have changed something to stop this working that's really annoying, and I hope it can be fixed!
Your link seems to just go to a page for a YouTube video downloader, so I'm not sure what relevance that has to this problem.
VDH still seems to be working fine on YouTube, just not on Facebook.

"We are sorry, We support only windows operating systems!" WTF ?

I confirm an issue with detecting Facebook videos. I'll have a look.

Any update on this?
The detection of Facebook videos seems to be very hit and miss, sometimes it will detect a few, but not all, of the videos on a Facebook page (never the one you actually want of course!) but more often than not it won't detect any media at all, even though there's loads of videos there.
It would be really good if there was a function to force re-detection on the page.
I assume this is due to something that Facebook have done, as the extension seems to be pretty much working as intended on other sites.
I hope it can be fixed, as I only started using it very recently, and it was brilliant for a few days, then suddenly stopped working properly on Facebook, which is what I installed it for!
Cheers, Dave.

I investigated the issue and it appears that the new streaming now being by Facebook requires a lot of work. We will certainly add the feature in a future but it won't make it for 6.2.0. Sorry.

Thanks mig!
I was afraid that might be the case.
I have a different Facebook video downloader extension installed on Chrome on another machine, and I've just checked that and it has now stopped working completely!
At least VDH still picks up some Facebook videos.
I hope it can be fixed soon, I'm sure you'll do your best as Facebook video downloading is one of the main functions that people have these extensions for.
Please don't apologise, I know these things can be difficult to achieve, especially when sites deliberately work to prevent downloading.
Cheers, Dave.

Hi - I have exactly the same problem. I tested many different things but the feed detection is not working anymore.
When by accident a feed detected, it is not the one played.
The issue started two weeks ago.
Wishing you guys manage to find the root cause and a sustainable fix.

Thanks for the heads up.

(Just got a new VDH update today (1/03/17)  and CAN NOT download a personal video of mine from my FaceBook account to my computer.

I'm using FireFox browser 50.1.0 and VDH 6.2.0, Window 7 platform

Would really love to know what's happened.

Regards, Jenn)

Send me in private the email address you used to purchase the license. It is not the one you use in this forum.

I just installed the latest DLH 7.3.4 which I understand is supposed to be able to detect and download facebook videos.  No such luck!  Here is a link to one that I tried: https://www.facebook.com/SamanthaMohr11Alive/videos/1699809976762330/

I am using Firefox 61.0.1 on Windows 10 Pro 1709 64-bit

I also viewed a number of other FB videos in my New Feed, and none of them were detected.  My license is verified, and in settings, the box to allow FB detection and downloads is checked.  Are there any other less obvious settings that have to be made or changed?

Now this is really weird!  I just clicked on the link my original post to the Samantha Mohr video to make sure it was correct and, much to my surprise, I saw a brief "re-directing to ..." message before the video loaded and was detected by DLH.  I then tried the Weather Nation link and the same thing happened - message about re-directing followed by the video loading, playing and being detected by DLH.

So I experiment further, and I think I have found a work-around for the problem:
1)  Play the FB video in your news feed (or wherever else it is on FB)
2)  Pause the playback and right-click, and from the pop-up menu click show video URL
3)  Click in the small window that opens showing the URL, right-click and then click "copy"
4)  In a new Firefox tab, Paste & Go the copied URL
5)  You may or may not get the "re-directing..." message, but the video should load and play in the new tab.
6)  Within a few seconds DLH should detect the video, allowing you to select the version (if any - resolution) and download as usual
