I have it installed on FF 57 on a Win 10 64-bit system. Now I really don't want my browser to run on Admin privileges, because of...reasons. But if I don't, I keep getting the window to install the companion app all the time.

It takes admin privileges to install the companion app, because it's an application you install, but then both Firefox and VDH companion app run at user level.

That may as well be, but on my system it shows the app as "not installed" when I check on a regular Firefox. When I use an admin-privileged Firefox, it shows as installed and works as intended.
Clicking on details it tells me "Checking companion app returned: Failed to create process"

Same with a10, btw.

No one else reported such an issue.

Can you try to reinstall the coapp as a non-admin regular user ? I guess the app will then be able to run as normal user.

I tried that just now. Issue persists.

In your initial post, you wrote "I don't want my browser to run on Admin privileges". Did you do anything special in your Windows setup about this ?
So far, about the coapp have been installed by about one million windows users and no one else reported that particular issue, so i guess you must have a very specific setup.
