Hello,

I want to buy the membership but I am not sure how it works. So if I purchase using Chromebook in my desktop, where and how is the membership validated? My email address? My MAC computer? I am trying to understand if I can use my desktop and also my laptop with a one single license? Or do I need one for each machine?

Thank you for your help and sorry to be so dam about this service.

:)

Good questions. You'll find your answers by starting here:

https://groups.google.com/g/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/c/BzPLK2YyL-s

That is a link you'll probably want to bookmark for easy reference. I recommend you read
that entire thread, if not now, eventually. As you read through that thread, you'll come
across a reference to the VDH license. You can skip quickly to that reference by doing a
string search on "philosophy" in there. That will reposition the page to the relevant
reference. There is a link in that reference that you should click. You'll find answers
to your questions & probably answers to a few questions you didn't think about asking.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for responding super fast!
Willy, is the extension the same using Chromebook and Firefox? I use both browsers, but I am not sure if one works better with the extension.

Thank you!

Is Chromebook a browser? I thought it was a laptop computer. If you mean Chrome, no,
the license is not transferable. That's what you should have understood from the
reference I gave you. The license for Chrome is one thing, the license for Firefox is a
different thing, and they have different features, therefore different prices. As for
which is "better," that's an issue of personal taste. I use Firefox exclusively but
that's just me. If you use both browsers, you might want to buy 2 licenses, one for
Chrome, the other for Firefox. It's up to you. You might want to reread that reference
I gave you to make sure you caught all the concepts.

The licences are browser specific but there is just one problem. If you intend to use it in the Chromebook there is no Coapp designed for chrome OS. There are Coapps for windows, Mac and Linux but none for chrome OS. It is an OS built around the chrome browser. It uses the Linux kernel
but everything else is proprietary on top of that.

Wild Willy- A Chromebook runs Chrome OS, it's Googles lightweight OS, it's Crome browser rewritten to run as an OS, it keeps you in the google sphere and needs you to be regularly connected to the internet as most programs save your data to Googles cloud.

MJS- I'd recommend you do not buy a licence on a chromebook, you won't have the use of the companion app and chrome browser is limited as to what you can download, keep in mind that the licence you buy will be for the specific browser you buy it for firefox on windows is what I use, although I use Linux Lite on some machines, I do not use VDH on any ... others here use linux with firefox and have the companion app installed and working, others could guide you advice 0n that if you decide to go that way.

I own a Cromebook that was given to me, it's a rubbish OS, to use Linux Apps on it you can install an add on that lets you run linux apps, it may be possible to run Firefox and the co-app in that environment, it sux as after several system updates it breaks the linux add in environment and to fix that the system needs to be reset to factory, it does reset to the last updte and not to the version of Chromebook that it was sold with, chromebooks can't run anything but what the store and the linux environment allows you to, running another OS on one is not possible, investigated this when the one I have was given me 2 yrs ago.

I saw a recent article on how to install (real) Linux to a Chromebook.  I didn't look at the article in depth because I don't have a Chromebook, but you may want to re-investigate the possibility of doing that.
