When I download videos, usually from youtube, many of them have a QR code in the upper left corner. (See attached image).  The code doesn't show up when I watch the video on youtube, only in the downloaded videos.  Any one have any idea what's happening and how to get rid of it?

If you haven't purchased a converter license and you're not running under linux, then VDH will insert that code any time you use the converter. All adaptive variants (tagged ADP) require the use of the converter to recombine the audio and video.

Thanks Tig.

This link also may help to understand the licensing model: http://www.downloadhelper.net/about-licensing.php

Totally understand you need to get paid.

Will removing the companion app and just using the extension get rid of the QR code?
My DL needs don't need conversion for the most part as I use FFMPEG, Handbrake, and HEVC x265.

Didn't hear back so did some research.

Deleted the previously installed co-application, which does the heavy lifting in terms of converting video files during download.
Preliminary results
Pros:
if downloading a video that doesn't require conversion, the QR code isn't written into every frame of downloaded video.
Cons:
Extension no longer detects as many sites/videos due to the diminished functionality without having the co-application installed.

For now, willl have to work for me until I can afford the $28 developer needs to cover his/her costs.
I mostly use the program to name my video downloads from xtube etc. Videos have download buttons/capability but the default naming of the downloaded file sucks.
Smart naming through video downloader is quick, smart and easy to use.

Developer was smart in putting the time and energy into the co-app especially with the release of Firefox Quantum. Most free extensions that downloaded videos were no longer available due to lincreased security measures by Firefox. PITA but also a smart move in the long run.

Thanks for cotinuing to improve the product and I will be a paid subscriber once I can afford to pay.
Hope the developer is open to considering compassionate pricing / discount for students and disabled folks.

Pricing for most people is reasonable as they find it easy to afford $28.
Unfortunately permanently disabled, daily pain, fixed income, have to prioritize food, shelter, companion animal, medical first.
At end of month, need to sometimes use credit card as last resort to pay for food and utilities. Not good interest rate andpaying off bill can be nearly impossible. Prefer to buy what I can with cash on hand and avoid the credit card trap. Hopefully will get a gift card for christmas that I can cashin to pay for a license.
Since paypal isn't an option, how do we get payment to the developer?
