I just used VDH on Firefox 57 (64-bit) to download an HLS-stream video, finished downloading completely (file size is appropriate) but the video file doesn't seem to play on VLC, MPC-HC, Windows Media Player or Firefox.

I was asked to download the "companion app", which I was able to do without any errors

So I tried again but this time selected the option to convert to AVI 4mb. This time the PART file had the full file size and then stopped downloading while VDH says it's still "Running" when it appears that the only thing left to do is to convert.

Could it be a problem with the "companion app"? Checked through it and it appears to be ffmpeg etc. That much I know but I don't know about fiddling around with the command line stuff on my own

Also if it might be relevant, I might have downloaded either file using Private Browsing

I have attached some screenshots in hopes it'll help! As for VLC it loads for a quick second, showing the total duration, and then just seems to close. MPC-HC seems to have the duration figured out but it doesn't play any audio/video. Pardon the filename, it's porn.

And btw appreciate how you seem to be very active with answering questions on this forum!

I may have the same/similar problem. An HLS stream appeared to download fine but the resulting file was unplayable by VLC.

--Selecting 'Download' with no conversion yielded an unplayable 1.6GB file, even though MediaInfo app could read all of the video's info. Windows did recognize it as a .mp4 media file.
--Trying the same thing again later yielded a 1.6GB file not recognizable by Windows. Changed to .mp4 and still unplayable.
--Selecting 'Download & Convert' (to AVI for test) an error yielded 0KB video file. Sorry, I don't have the error file. Can try again and post if necessary.

I'm have the same, or a similar problem. It looks like the file downloaded completely. The size is right, and the extension is right, but the file won't open (and yes, I installed the VDH Companion App). You can see in this screenshot, that the download file also has no image, unlike the files previously downloaded using the same procedure prior to the Firefox update. Double-clicking on it opens the file, but nothing plays.
