Trying to download certain MP4 videos causes my PC to slow down to a crawl and then the video will not play after it finally downloads.  I must reboot the PC to speed it back up.  Other videos download just fine.  Below is what I am running and the message that is logged. I have a verified license also.  Please help.

I could not reproduce the problem. From this URL, picking the 640x360 795kbps variant, i ended up with a 350921331 byte video file that played perfectly.

The file I got was much smaller.  Thanks for downloading it.  I will try re-installing VDH and maybe Firefox also.

I'm also experiencing the same error using VDD 7.2.2 in Firefox 59.0.3.  I also tried VDD in Chrome (latest version is 2.0.1?) and it shows 'no media to process'.  URL is https://humanlongevityfilm.com/episode-dae3-v2/.  Here's the full error text
(the suggestion at the bottom of this text "Consider increasing the value for the 'analyzeduration' and 'probesize' options" - where are these options? Couldn't find.)

I downloaded a variant from this URL (this is an embedded youtube video) ADP 256x144 MKV and ended with a 212911116 bytes video without problem.

Can you check that variant and let me know which variant(s) you have problems with ?

It's weird.  Last night, the only variant was the ~200mb ~700x360 MP4, then after your reply, the only variant available was now a 854x480 MKV.  After over 8 hours, it finally finished aggregating and it's OK.  This morning, I checked again and 2 varants show up (both are 854x480, either MKV or WEBM).  Is there a way to view other variants beyond what pops up after clicking the extension icon?  I've even tried playing the video for about a minute prior to checking.

That link worked for me (640x360 683Kbps 1:14:09). In general, we don't hear much about failures with downloading Vimeo videos.

Is it possible you have a bad internet connection or wifi and VDH stopped after a chunk download failure leaving the video data corrupted ?

much thanks for your fast answer tonight. (Now here in Germany it's 11 o'clock in the morning)
I don't use WLAN, but normal LAN over a DSL-Router. I never had such a problem with VDH over the last 2 years, so I'm wondering. I also can play the full video online in firefox without problems.
Maybe there is a problem with temperature here, Yesterday we had over 30 °C here, but now in the morning we only have 25 °C and I got the same problem.
What I observe is, that the .part file grows up to 50 MB, sometimes to 200 MB, and then, after the failure occurred, the final video was shrinked to 120 MB, 60 MB or even to only 500 kB. This makes me wondering!

Which size does the file have, after you downloaded it?

When I download the 1st small Video, I get:

I ended up with a 324452839 bytes file.

It might be worth resetting the VDH settings in case something changed that cause the problem. You can easily do so from the VDH options tab, top right drop down menu.

For Ubuntu users I would like you would add a short instruction:
After download execute e.g.:
sudo apt install ./net.downloadhelper.coapp-1.2.4-1_amd64.deb # Always precede with some path, here "./"
I always forget, how to install a .deb package, so have to search for some manual, maybe others too.

I don't think prefixing the file name with "./" changes anything. It's only useful when you want to execute a program whose binary is in the current directory.

It is important, otherwise you get the message:
E: Package net.downloadhelper.coapp-1.2.4-1_amd64.deb can not be found.
... because the pure file name it will be interpreted as a package name.

Hi

I have the same problem but it depends on the place where I am.

I tried to download a video at home with my laptop. It doesn't work saying "

Could not get information from media 'XXXXXXXXX'. The file might be corrupted.


At work I try to download the same video with my laptop (yes the same laptop) and it works!!!

What's wrong?

In another PC at home that doesn't download that video (also other videos don't download either) I tried to reset the VDH without success
But VDH does work (download) on many other websites without problems

So what's wrong with my internet access at home?
