That definitely a file permission issue. Can you verify the destination directory does not have specific rights ?

The destination directory is one to which I have permissions, and one that I have used many times before. I also tried several variations of locations.
I was able to down-grade to version 7.0.0, and the video could be downloaded to the same location.

What is the original URL of the page containing the video ?

So it DASH streaming right ?

Is the issue consistent ? I mean if you retry you get the same error ?

Are you sure you have a healthy, not-full, file-system and you didn't do special file system manipulation like moving directories during the download ?

Yes, the issue is consistent - same error when I tried this multiple times, with different folder destinations.
My file system has plenty of space. I did not do anything special like moving directories: I clicked download, and walked away, and come back to the error.
Using 7.0.0, I was able to get the video with no issues, to the same destination.

If you go to VDH settings > Behaviour and uncheck parameter "Chunked data CoApp requests", does it work now ?

I re-installed 7.1.0, and now it works... even with the check mark in "Chunked data CoApp requests"...
I'll let you know if I encounter other issues.

Hello Mig. I've been having the same problem for a while. I am using Firefox 59.0.2 (32bit) and VDH 7.2.2. I have tried changing the default download directory from dwhelper to C:/User/Downloads and unchecking the suggested option above and I am now getting a different error.

Original error: EPERM: operation not permited, rename...

New error:

ENOENT: no such file or directory, rename 'C:\Users\Macak\dwhelper\Creating Your Fantastic Future! [replay] Institute for Integ-3.mp4.part' -> 'C:\Users\Macak\dwhelper\Creating Your Fantastic Future! [replay] Institute for Integ-3.mp4'

What can I do to sort this out? I haven't been able to download any DASH or HLS videos for a long time. In fact, very few things download these days. Thanks for all the work you do and for any support you may be able to give me.

Could you try to redownload this video but this time changing the downloaded file name in order to remove the "!" character ? I'm not sure this has anything to do with your problem but it's worth trying.

Woau! It worked! I also changed a few other settings that I don't know why they were different before, like DASH streams it was set to Download audio and I set it to aggregate audio and video. Also, earlier I had applied the changes suggested above but forgotten to click on SAVE, so the Chunked data CoApp requests is still selected.
The only thing is that in order to change the filename (which, by the way, I deleted everything from the ! sign all the way to the .mp4), i had to go to the right faceing arrow with the 3 dots at the end of the file resolution tab i wanted, and choose download and convert. Otherwise it goes straight to the downloading process.
I will try with some other videos and let you know how it goes.

Many thanks, mate.

You're welcome.

Since there has been several changes, it's hard to say the "!" character was the cause of the problem. Please let us know if you can prove this in or out.

I have just managed to download another video. The problem this time is that a 29 minute video took almost as long to fully aggregate (the download process was really fast, but the aggregating process took that long). It was a 960 x 540 resolution, which was the second lowest available. Is this normal? Thanks

Yes, without a license, the aggregation process re-encodes the video, which is why it takes so long. With the license and unless you specify conversion to a particular encoder, the aggregation is almost immediate.

OK, many thanks. I will look into purchasing a licence so I can support your work, although I am currently unemployed.
