I run linux mint. When I try to use the app, I get a message that I need to upgrade the app:
"companion upgrade required:  you are running the companion app version 1.6.3 but this feature requires version 2.0.9.
It gives me an "installer",  linux tarbz2.  I click on it, something gets downloaded in a zip file, I open it, but then what? I don't know how to do this.  I enter a couple of weird commands they mention, in the terminal, but nothing happens.
Can somebody please help?

For Linux Mint I think you need the .deb version. Try installing that and come back with your results, if it works or not.

Hello,
I tried, and idownloaded the deb. version, says "installed", and when I tried to use it, I got the same request, "need to "download companion app". I've attached  screenshots of what I got.  I'm not very computer savvy, but never had this trouble before with VDH.

I had the same problem when testing it out on a usb stick and it was fairly easy to resolve.
All I did was refer to the troubleshooting page on GitHub and used the following in the terminal.

/opt/vdhcoapp/vdhcoapp install

Unbelievable. After days of struggling with this, finally worked with this one command you just sent.
Thanks!
