For Jerome:
This page uses the Brightcove player, same as the Metropolitan Opera. We do have a master manifest here. The manifest begins with one audio stream paired with one video stream, for 3 such pairs. The fourth audio stream is shared by the last 4 video streams. So that's 4 audio-only streams and 7 video-only streams. Curiously, even though there are 4 audio streams identified in the manifest, I get only 1 of the audio streams displayed in VDH. Which one is it? I can't tell. Well, I suppose I could match up the VDH Details with the manifest but I'm too lazy. There are also I-FRAME entries here. I have never figured out what those are for.
For Dan:
In general, the first entries in the VDH menu show the available video streams in descending order of video resolution. These are, in cases such as this, video streams that have no audio tracks. Following these, there are usually some streams listed in the VDH menu that seem like they could be anything. These are the ones that are usually the audio streams that have no video tracks. In the case of this video, even though I can see that there are actually 4 distinct audio tracks, VDH displays only one of them. I can't tell which of the 4 it is. I would go out on a limb here & say that it doesn't matter which audio track you download. They're all for the same video so I would hope any one of them would work, in particular, the one that VDH displays. I would dearly love to post some images but this new Google Groups interface won't let me attach images. So you use VDH to download your video without audio stream and your audio without video stream. That's 2 separate downloads in VDH. You can then play the 2 downloaded files, as is, synchronously in VLC. However, it is possible to weld the audio & video files into a single file. To do that, use the tool at the bottom of the VDH menu that says "Aggregate local audio and video files."
