Video DownloadHelper 6.0.0; Firefox 47.0.1; Windows 10, x64

1) I'm getting a 'Downloaded file for "..." is empty. Media might be protected." error on every Dailymotion link that I try. VDH works fine on Youtube though. Based on similar questions asked here, I have ensured that the 'Network probe' setting is checked. Test link: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4pqz24_wwe-summerslam-2016-brock-lesnar-vs-randy-orton-full-hd-match_sport. On this link, in the VDH main panel, I go on to click the 1280p non-HLS version, I am asked where to save the file, the download begins, Firefox says 0 bytes downloaded and VDH toolbar icon pops up an error badge with the above error in the log.

2) The error icon badge gets stuck. So for example, when I do the above steps, I get a red error badge saying '1' overlaying VDH's toolbar icon. I open the VDH panel, scroll to the 'Errors' part and click the bin icon to delete the error. The errors in the panel clear up, yet the red badge remains. If I have deleted / dismissed the error, the badge should vanish on its own. It does vanish if I disable then enable the 'Badge error display' setting, but this should obviously not be needed.

3) Is there any way to completely disable the 'media in other tabs' part of the detection and the main panel? I would like to disable it completely, because I do not have any use for it, and I find that it really slows down the display of the panel, especially when I have 30-40+ tabs. Clicking 'Clear hits' brings down the time taken by the panel to display and populate to nearly instantaneously, down from 3-4 seconds.

4) Is there a way to have a whitelist, instead of a blacklist? I would like VDH to only work on a select websites instead of work on every website with a few exceptions in the blacklist.

5) Would it be possible to have VDH start downloads in the conventional way, so that they can be caught by whatever download manager the user is using?

6) You could consider something like `#content { max-width: 800px !important; }` on the settings page that VDH opens, because in its current implementation, on wide screens, the right column is too far from the left column and I had difficulty in ensuring I was reading the right line. I added the above using the Stylish addon for my personal use.

Thanks in advance and thank you for making this excellent add-on :)

7) Age-restricted videos on Youtube don't show anything in the download panel even if I'm logged in. Based on the other threads here, I have ensured that 'Do not show ADP variants in download list' unchecked. Test link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmjUyKejzzI. A youtube downloader script, https://github.com/gantt/downloadyoutube, does detect videos if I log in.

1/ sorry your test link does not work any more (video removed)

2/ this is a long standing bug that will eventually be fixed. Workaround: after you cleared the error, switch tabs for the badge not to display the error any more

3/ no sorry that's not possible in the current versions

4/ not really. Having all videos detected and a special action to blacklist the site they originate from is easy for users. Having a whitelist instead would imply the authorized domains should be entered manually. Far too complex for average users

5/ whenever we can perform a simple download (URL to file), we use the Firefox API which shows the download in the browser manager. A number of capturing methods cannot work that way: we must download many pieces and generate the final file manually. Unfortunately, the Firefox download API does not allow "fake" downloads to trick the manager to display them

6/ there are several ways to display the main panel (check VDH settings > Appearing). i would be surprised none of them could match your needs

7/ make sure the VP9 video codec is supported by installing ConvertHelper 3.2 if you are on Windows

Thank you for your response.

1) Since this post, I have refreshed Firefox and set everything up all over again and downloads for Dailymotion videos have since been working well. Sorry, I forgot to update this post.

3) I have since started using the Companion button instead of the main button, and there is no slowness there, so I don't really mind it.

4) That's a valid reason. Besides, like I said, I am OK with Companion button's behaviour.

5) Again, makes sense.

6) Sorry if I wasn't very clear, but I'm talking about the Settings page at resource://b9db16a4-6edc-47ec-a1f4-b86292ed211d/data/settingsPanel.html, not the main panel. Here (https://i.imgur.com/Jxta5OI.png) is how it looks by default. When I first started using the add-on, I had a somewhat hard time ensuring that I was reading the correct row because the left and right columns are pretty far apart, I was new to all of it and there isn't much margin between the rows. I added 'max-width' to the page and now it looks like this (https://i.imgur.com/P9Dh5tn.png). I find this a lot more readable but that could be just me.

7) I will give that a try and let you know how it works for me.
