Consider increasing the value for the 'analyzeduration' and 'probesize' options

Hi,

i've installed the VDH Add-On today and i really like it so i placed a 10€ gift some minutes later :-)

I am using Firefox on an Ubuntu 20.04LTS system.

After downloading a dozen of videos from the same source, i got an error message. The video has been stored w'out sound.

I should increase the value for the 'analyzeduration' and 'probesize' options. But - where do i find this settings (how are they called in the german version?).

Is there a option which allows storing this video in "raw" format, so that i can try other tools for conversion? I told him to keep temporary files, but i didn't find this temporary file after downloading the video (i took a look in the Firefox profile folder...)

You've come closer than most to providing a useful problem description. The error
message about the 2 options is actually not helpful. The 2 options named are part of
ffmpeg, a tool that is embedded in VDH. Actually, it's in the CoApp. But they are not
available as options of VDH. The error message is misleading. It is not generated by
VDH or the CoApp but rather ffmpeg. I believe the error you are reporting is that the
file you downloaded is corrupt in some manner. The extensive error message you posted is
also rather unhelpful. What would be much more helpful is the URL of this item. If you
post that, somebody else could try to download the item & see if the same results occur.
Have you tried to download this item more than once? It's always a good idea to retry
something before you give up on it. You never know when some random noise in a data
transmission might have corrupted the file you received.

Can i use VDH for downloading videos w'out piping them to ffmpeg?

That's too bad that it is password protected. It leaves you more or less on your own. I
have downloaded content from behind password protection. It is not always necessary to
resort to ffmpeg. Other things besides simply being password protected can cause
problems for VDH. But since your content is password protected, nobody else can help you
look for them. One possibility is DRM protection. But in the case of DRM-protected
content, you would usually have an empty VDH menu. VDH does not download DRM content
because that would be illegal. It does not sound like that is what you are seeing. My
best guess, without being able to try it myself, is that you encountered a transient
error & retrying the download, possibly even a few times, would eventually be successful
in getting the content. We've also had some recent threads on here (you can search for
them) in which enabling the VDH setting HLS as M2TS has helped. But you're going to have
to investigate this one yourself since nobody else can look at your content without a
password. Sharing your login credentials is not an option. It is against VDH company
policy & I know I, as a non-employee of VDH, don't want to know your secret credentials
either. If other downloads from this site are successful, then it must be that there is
something weird about this one item. You'll have to discover alternative methods of
getting it. You could try OBS. It will record anything, including DRM-protected
content. It's not quite the same as downloading but it may be your only recourse. Keep
posting to let us know how you get on.
