"Native port disconnected" when attempting download from YouTube

Operating system: OSX 10.11.6

Firefox version: 58.0.1

VDH version: 7.1.3a4

When attempting to download an ADP video from YouTube, the dowload proceeds to 99%, then fails with the message "Native port disconnected."

Clicking on "details" for the error message returns this string:

Nothing ever appears in the download folder.

As a former programmer (now retired), I appreciate all the hard work you guys put into this product, as well as all the headaches of keeping it concurrent with Firefox releases.  Many thanks.

This typically happens if the coapp is restarted by Firefox while performing an operation, for instance if the settings get opened and perform a license check.
Is it a problem you just saw once or is it every time ?

I saw it for the first time yesterday, and it's still happening as of this morning.  The download reaches 99%, the aggregation begins, and it all fails.

One peculiar effect that I only noticed this morning is that this seems only to happen with ADP/MP4 conversions.  When I choose ADP/MKV, the download proceeds normally.  But of course, not all YouTube videos offer the choice of MKV or MP4.

What might happen is that for some reason the coapp crashes when aggregating this particular video. This would explain the "Native port disconnected" error. But it would the first report of this kind of issue for the coapp and it has been installed ~5 millions times and probably downloaded hundreds of millions youtube mkv videos.

I don't doubt it.  But it's not happening with MKV videos.  It's happening with ADP/MP4 videos.

PLEASE NOTE that this only happens when I'm downloading/aggregating an MP4 file.  So far, I have encountered no problems with downloading/aggregating MKV files from YouTube.

Good.  But I cannot.

It's not "slow" for me.  It fails.  Nothing at all is ever downloaded, and an error message results.

I tried it again, a few minutes ago (using the above URL), and this was the result:

Fantastic ! i have been able to reproduce the problem reliably on the second video. I get the same error, only with the ADP/MP4 1080p variant and only on Mac (it works fine for me on Linux). From what i see, this could potentially explain the problem on the first video (coapp crashing).

I'll come back to this thread hopefully with a fix.

Thank you, mig.  I do appreciate your efforts and those of all the VDH developers.

I must apologize for not having included the information that I was trying to get the 1080p videos with ADP/MP4.  It might have made your job a bit easier.

Glad to know it's working under Linux, since I hope to replace my Mac with an Ubuntu machine sometime in the spring.

What i meant is that it works on MY linux machine which turns out to be very powerful but that kind of bug is likely to be present potentially on any  OS, it's just a matter of timing that makes the symptoms to show up or not. So we aim to fix the issue once for all, Mac, Linux and Windows.

I pushed a new version of the coapp: 1.1.3

For now, i only built the Mac pkg installer for you to try: https://github.com/mi-g/vdhcoapp/releases/tag/v1.1.3

Could you retry both videos with this coapp version (make sure you are running 1.1.3 by checking the VDH settings) ?

In my case, it solves the second case (Invalid string length) but since i was not able to reproduce the first error case (Native port disconnected) i cannot tell for sure this is a fix for that as well. Can't wait for your feedback.

I installed the 1.1.3 helper and forced a Recheck to load the new binary.  I then downloaded the YouTube sample videos.
The results are below:
