I want to download movies such as this one from this site  Watch Girl in the Basement 2021 full HD on Actvid.com Free, which is a JW player. The issue I have is that the downloaded video from HLS flow is laggy and it looks like it's missing frames.

I researched this problem around, other people have the exact same problem and one of the suggestions was to convert the video to a re-encoded mp4 after downloading using the helper. Unfortunately though, as mentioned in that thread itself, this only reduces the lag slightly as I have tested myself, and it does not remove it completely.

Is there another conversion format that solves the problem or any other steps I can take?

I am using version 7.6.5.0 on edge and I have the paid version.

And just wanted to mention. The video in the player itself has no issue. It's a problem with the file that gets downloaded through the extension. I have researched around and it seems like this is a known problem with HLS videos. However I was not able to find a single solution for this.

I'm surprised you didn't find the solution after researching the problem, maybe it wasn't thorough enough.
The solution is to set HLS as M2TS in VDH settings. This makes the downloaded video smooth and with no stutter.
However the file is not MP4 but will play no problem on the computer.

I have never seen this format before, but somehow it works even on my TV, so no need to convert it.
