It's all about limiting risk, the less add-ins/extensions there are the more likely your risk profile is lower. I said plugins/add-ins are a security risk, and that is a well held belief in the industry, I didn't say we can't live without them or shouldn't use them, it's always a trade off with features vs security. But my main objective here was to ask if this extension could support Brave. I only have a couple of plugins, one is AV so I do make an effort to limit my expose but there aren't many choices when it comes to downloading.
As for Brave stats and it's popularity, their market share is growing, which means it's becoming more popular. I didn't say anything about the browser being at the top, I simply said it's becoming more popular as people become privacy focused.
So I will just ignore mostly what you said, , but you some what arrogant comment just gave me an idea, I wonder if there is an option to just install an app onto Linux, and well, yep there is
So using flatpak I just installed video downloader, (though that link provides for a number of front ends to the Linux popular YT-DLP command line tool
https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp ) and well, it's simple and works well. Now I can simply remove the add-ins for down loaders and not have to worry about browser compatibility, problem solved though I guess now I won't need this tool anymore.
