Hi,
this is a message to developpers: each time that a new version of this module is released, the default folder for the downloaded videos turn back to c:/users/dwhelper, which is boring and unuseful. I have to get it back to my usual d:/downloads folder. I don't see the interest of the dwhelper folder, so could you please stop that default setting to happen again? Really, it would help A LOOOOT. Thank you for listening.

From VDH1 to VDH6, the default download folder was <HOME>/dwhelper. With VDH7.0.0, it went to the default browser directory (typically <HOME>/Downloads) because of Firefox 57 restrictions, and with VDH7.1.0, using the coapp as the default download processor, we came back to <HOME>/dwhelper. There shouldn't be any reason to change it again, but if we have to, we'll do it. I believe your remark and complain is a bit exaggerated :)

I see no fault in “vadim....@gmail.com” ‘s remarque as I feel the same.

The default now is [C:\Users\Vaganza\dwhelper] with no option presently of/

to change because of Firefox’ restrictions ? at least, I haven't managed to.

Windows 10.

There is reason to praise your work in all posts !

For downloads made using the coapp, you can change the default download by either:

- use a Download action (not QuickDownload). The last used folder will become the default download folder
- open VDH settings > Behaviour and click "Change" in parameter "Default download folder"

For downloads made with the browser (which i do not recommend), default download directory is always the browser one.

- open VDH settings > Behaviour and click "Change" in parameter "Default download folder"

… only problem is: it doesn’t work (!)
as people has pointed out in other comments.

Even if I uncheck the box after:
"Se souvenir du dernier répertoire
(Utiliser le dernier répertoire comme lieu de sauvegarde par défaut)"
Third from the top on “Behaviour”,

clicking on "Change" on "Dossier de téléchargement par défaut"
will produce: ” Error  write EPIPE”

Sorry for the French, but there is no language option
(I haven’t found any) in your Plug-In,
and I’m not planning on changing my Browser language,
version is 56 and the latest.

But another problem during the day has been
that it didn’t download anything.
I finally managed to download an .mp3 then an audio .mp4
but that seems very random
and following your instructions will not change folder.

My OS here is Windows 7, made a mistake in the above post.

You are the second user reporting this "write EPIPE" error (the other one is a customer on private support).

There is definitely a problem accessing the folder, but i don't know which one and cannot reproduce the problem.

The next version will allow modifying the download folder "manually" with an input field to bypass the issue.

This is also an issue for me.  I am running on Windows 10 64 bit.  I have installed the most recent beta version of the VDH (beta) and most recent version of the helper.  Thinking it might be a permissions issue, I installed the helper in an alternative directory (with all users all permissions)

I get the epipe error any time I try to change download directory or try to download a file.  When attempting to download a file, I get the error repeatedly when I click on x or cancel.  In the background I can see the file name followed by a w and a number that continually increases.  Download using browser works (for those files it can download)

I am an experienced programmer but am retired.  I am trying to develop a web-ext with a node.js host using native messaging.  Still working

since I can easily repo the error, I am happy to help if you would like

Thanks
Charlie

Would you mind trying with coapp 1.1.3 from https://www.downloadhelper.net/install-coapp (make sure you recheck the coapp to ensure 1.1.3 is used) ?

If it does not solve the problem can you share the URL of a video page where you get this problem ?
