Hi! I have a new MacBook Pro and the latest Firefox installed. I'm trying to install the companion app but my laptop is saying: "net.downloadhelper.coapp” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified"

Can anyone help with this issue? I'm trying to download a training video and it requires the companion app. The app is actually in my Applications folder but Mac doesn't let it run.

Huge thanks! :) :) :)

Thanks, that was new info and a good tip. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in this case. When I'm on the page with the video I want to download and try to download it, the Video DownloadHelper tells me that the companion app needs to be installed even if it is already in the applications folder and I opened it with the tip you gave. It doesn't really open as it's somekind of a extention but I can see that with the tip it did let me double click it which wasn't possible before. This is unfortunate as I really love the software and have been using it on my old MacBook Pro.

Any other recommendations? Why would the app not be verified any more? Any other recommended similar apps?

Huge thank to all! :)

Thanks, I'll try to see if I can get it to work. My Mac says that the issue is that the software hasn't been verified by Apple. So in addition to the notification I pasted here in the original posting, it says "This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information." so it seems like somekind of verification should be done and Video Downloadhelper should do something here. I'm guessing I'm not the only Mac user so I'm wondering how I'm having this issue. A bit inconvenient as I really like the software. Also, there's no way I found to contact the software developers...

We are the developers. We are not certified by Apple so you'll have to trust us. Please apply the procedure and it should work as it works for other mac users.

It's not a question of trust, the app cannot be installed.
