I liked being able to rename a video before downloading it. Now with version 7, I have not been able to do that. Is this feature gone or am I missing something?

Pass the mouse over the entry in the VDH menu. A "..." sign appears on the right of the entry. Click on it. The list of possible actions appears. The default, "QuickDownload", downloads without prompting. "Download" may be what you want. You may want to check parameter "Use this action by default" before clicking the option so you can change the default behaviour.

Thanks! Not as seamless as before, but better...

I have another question... before the "progress" of the download appeared at the bottom of the window. Now I have to keep a larger window open to see this. Is there some way to get it back at the bottom of the window. It also showed the last few completed downloads...

I'm pretty sure it worked the same way.

smithj...the only "progress" that appeared on the bottom, that I'm aware of is for Chrome.  Firefox version does not do that.  With FF, you can get an indication box that pop-ups on the lower right when the file completes...not sure in Chrome.  Also, there are other methods of tracking a download progress.  In both versions, there is a Blue circular button on the VDH icon that gives a graphic view of downloading(running) files.  Also, depending if you use the Companion App browser for downloads or the Browser version.  The Browser version will produce a downward pointing arrow next to the 3 balls.  Tracking here is similar to that of the old 6.3 version of VDH.  I like this, however, the Browser version has limitations that the CoApp fixes.  As for re-naming the files before downloading, yes, it works when using the Download, instead of Quick.  There also are 2 types of Save-As windows that can appear, one as a Tab (CoApp only), the other as a new Window(both)....I know, a little confusing.

I am using Chrome... before the upgrade, when i clicked on the file I wanted to download, a separate dialogue box popped up allowing me to rename the file before downloading it... the "download" instead of "quick" does allow me to rename, so I am happy...

anuhea55 00 is correct about the "progress" box in Chrome... can't send a screen shot because I can't figure out how to get there. If I knew, then I wouldn't have to ask... ;-)

thanks to both of you for the help!

Ok, now (since VDH6) the videos being downloaded do not appear in the main add-on panel.

Instead, you can see them by clicking on the blue circle that appears at the bottom of the main panel, which takes you to the "running" section of the user interface.

This visual design was suggested by the Mozilla UX team and implemented 2 years ago. This is not something we want to step back from.
