The dates on downloaded files are wrong.

The 'date' detail in Windows ('Media Created' in Properties > Details) of every downloaded file using VDH is now 12/31/1969 7:00 PM. Because they all exactly the same, it makes sorting by 'date' impossible. 

While a file is downloading the '.mp4' and '.mp4.part' files have the correct time, but once the download finishes it changes to 1969.

Happens in Firefox 61.0.1 with VDH 7.3.4 using both the browser and companion app download options, also happens in Chrome 67.0.3369.99 with with VDH 7.3.4. 

I tried reinstalled both the extension and companion app in Firefox and it still happens. It seems to happen on every website I try and and none of the files I download without VDH are affected.

This issue has nothing to do with Firefox, Chrome nor VDH. It looks like the date on your system has been reset for some reason. Traditionally, computer dates start from the "epoch", i.e January 1st 1970. Can you check your computer's date ?

Found this post while discussing with Wild Willy on another previous post.  Also, https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/18QizK4yTaE/KBsXMN8KAgAJ;context-place=topic/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a/FhszW1wy-SQ    has some of the original problem.  Although I myself have seen this 2036 or totally wrong date posting, I have not seen one recently.  Still not sure if it is an Windows 10 issue or the Server where the file is obtained from, or even remotely, VDH.  Since it doesn't happen on every download, using VDH or regular URL downloads, the issue is illusive and not easy to identify.  I've added the "date modified" and "date create" to better use the column sort feature.  I also add the "Length" for the total playing time of .mp4 video files.  If anyone sees a hugely incorrect date, show a link for testing.

In Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer, the thing Microsoft used to call File Manager decades ago) there is a way to display certain columns in details view.  Three possible choices for columns are Date, Date Crteated, Date Modified.  I have to say I have no idea what Date is when you've got the choices Date Created & Date Modified.  I just simply don't understand it.  So I never display it.  I would suggest anybody who is looking for accurate date information is always talking about Date Created or Date Modified.  You should just keep your focus on one or the other or both of those & just ditch the Date thing.

I had this same thing happen, on my phone (android 8.1.1) it says February 6th 2036, while on my TV the date on the same file says 1910-01-01 00:00. can someone explain what is happening?
