No sound from MP4 videos when downloaded from VDH

I use VLC and Windows Media Player for playing. Some of the mp4s are OK and some have no sound so I'm not sure what the problem is. Converters that I have tried don't solve the problem. I can send you one of the videos but you will have to let me know the process howto do this.

Quite frankly, you did not get an answer because you didn't search for it. Most topics in this forum are about this issue and the top one is pinned and titled "Sound issue on Vimeo videos (fix available)"

Many thanks mig.Unfortunately I didn't find an answer and I haven't seen videos such as Vimeo or Wistia. The videos I want to download are on a members site and I just want them on my computer so I don't have to go on the internet every time I want to view them. I think they may be protected in some way.

It's unlikely they would protect their videos by just shutting down the audio.

My best guess is that you are downloading from a site that hosts their videos on Vimeo, so you have the sound problem. Install VDH 6.3.0a1 to see if it fixes the issue.

Hello mig

All systems go. Installed VDH 6.3.0a 1 plus the converter and tried it on 4 downloads and they were all perfect.
Your 'best guess' is now marked as best answer. I have been trying to find a solution for over a week.It's good to meet someone who knows what they are talking about.

I can confirm that VDH with Vimeo doesn't download the audio of the video file. I only download MP4 files and my guess is that VDH detects the 'wrong' file. Vimeo has different files for the same video: 1) only a video track, 2) only a audio track, 3) video and audio track.

With youtube-dl.exe i get the following results:

Notes. To show all available streams: parameter -F, (refererer sometimes required)

Example:

youtube-dl.exe -F https://player.vimeo.com/video/210654662 (won't work and requires a refering url

youtube-dl.exe -F https://player.vimeo.com/video/210654662 --referer https://members.madhedgefundtrader.com/login-welcome-page-2/ (this works)
